Another thing, I bet Byrd would be balling right now.
I was wondering the same thing. It seemed Ryan was still trying to figure out how to properly use the players in the secondary early on. Once he finally got an idea on how to use everyone, Byrd was already out for the season.
Sunday, it seemed like the 49ers made an adjustment from the previous week to go with quick drops by Kaepernick to hit on the short underneath routes to keep him from getting pressured. The only DB who picked up on this was Lewis & he would squat the underneath routes, making some huge breakups in the process. If Byrd is there, maybe he notices the same thing & gets a pick or two.

Any way you can post a link to the scores from last game only?

Yes, but I didn't find them very interesting.

I just don't get what the hell happened to Vacarro. Is he playing a different role than he did last season? I recall last season he made some pretty good plays in kind of a coverage LB role against inside WRs/TEs and he had great success in doing so. Not so much this season.
Also, as every person here has already posted, Walker needs more snaps. This dude has been a straight up beast when he gets the chance. I don't see why he isn't getting that many snaps. I suppose the injury theory is what's on everyone's minds in regards to not playing a lot of snaps, but who knows.
Next season, we have 4 huge needs:
-Athletic ILB (Benardrick McKinney in the draft would serve this well, dude is a stud)
-A good cover corner (unless Dixon keeps it up, but I think we should address this in FA and not the draft)
-Interior linemen (Now here I trust our luck in the draft with. We have made great selections for OL in the draft, so I could see two mid round OGs in our upcoming draft)
-Last but not least, Colston's replacement. I hate to say this since I love what Colston has brought these last 8 years, but he just isn't the same WR we used to know. I don't really have much hope for Nick Toon anymore unfortunately, so hopefully we could find a big WR somewhere in the draft or as someone mentioned earlier, a decent WR that had a down year that would be willing to come here with a reasonable price tag. Someone like Cecil Shorts would or Denarius Moore I suppose.

Agree with all of that. Most people will put a second CB as the #1 need, but if we get a Shorts/Crabtree type WR, stud guard, and a nice ILB to play next to Lofton, I'm seriously OK with White/Prob. Both of them play fairly well for most of the game, then have 2 or 3 plays where they go full retard and cost us the game. If Byrd comes back and plays like he usually does (I'll take 5 years of elite play as the legit sample size over 4 awful games where RR horribly misused everyone), then his intelligence and skills will save us from about half of those White disasters. Give Brees a better interior OL and an upgrade over Colston, and we're golden. Plus Dixon is playing very well for a rookie UDFA, and we always knew that SJB was a project. I say that if we love a CB that's available, go for it, but otherwise we'll be OK.

Can anyone tell me how long Evans has left on his contract? Good lord what horrible pass protection. I think OL in the first round is almost a must next year. CB is about the only other position I'd consider.

It's bad value, and we do fine in later rounds.
I think we should go ILB in the first, if it's there.

Yeah we've done well in the late rounds somehow on those spots a few times. I just hate to see such an awful number. Averaging damn near a -2 every single game in pass blocking. At least the run blocking is solid, but that goes for pretty much the entire line.

It's frustrating.
Evans is, by far, the most overpaid player on the team.

Evans is most likely gone. I think Colston takes a paycut to stick around, and we draft a bigger WR at some point this upcoming draft. While they aren't the same type of WR, the Steelers got a steal last year with Martavis Bryant in the 4th.

While I do like PFF, and understand that you have to take their score with a grain of salt, I though this was interesting:

Impressive. #Saints Rob Ryan points out that 70-yd pass vs GB shouldn't have been credited to CB Keenan Lewis. And @PFF makes quick fix.

Yeah, we've discussed that.

Well, excuse me for not subscribing to every one of your PFF threads. Carry on...

No reason to get defensive.

"Yeah, we've discussed that." is a bit pretentious of a response. I am a very frequent visitor of the board, and apparently I missed that discussion so I'm sure others did as well. I do enjoy these threads, so it's all good.

I think this season has gotten all of our periods synced.

I've gotta eat crow and say Brandin Cooks has been pretty good. Given that he's a rookie WR starting in the NFL.
Impressive.
Impressive.

Are lack of WR production has been the issue for 2 years. Cost us last year dearly as well. Old and slow. People on here tend to disagree but if you have Meacham on the team that says a lot of talent is missing. With exception of Cooks , WR picks over last several years not good. Even Stills is so so.
Also can't believe Brees still on lace for 5000+ yards. Cold weather at Bears and Steelers could prevent him.

According to PFF, looks like Robinson could replace Ingram without a noticeable fall-off.
No need to spend big bucks on a one-year wonder who has only excelled against sorry or depleted defenses when we have a much cheaper replacement.
