Has Australia ever been in a war by themselves?

ANZUS Treaty, although I believe that New Zealand didn't renew the treaty.

Britain's still in NATO.

Australia might be our best ally at this point. Most Euros have been shitting on us lately.

Kinda like the swag of the Aussie PM, saying he was going to 'shirt-front' Putin

We can't let Russia take Australia if they do start fighting. It's the most amazing place I've ever been.

The Aussies don't up with bullshite like our current government "leaders"

Putin is running a game of chicken to "enhance" the appearance of a resurgent Russia to the world and more importantly, to the Russians themselves. He knows that, for example, Obama would most likely blink and settle for some compromise that lets the Russians look like the big swinging dicks of the world.

The problem is that he picked the wrong country to wave his pecker at this time. To borrow a line from the Dresden Files books, Australia is "tiny but fierce". The Aussies are not to be trifled with.

They might not have, as some pointed out with a bit of a sneer, started their own wars... but they damn sure have fought in all the big ones. Which includes backing the US play in all our wars over the last century. If push comes to shove then the Aussies are going to push back hard.

It will almost certainly wind up with some sort of face saving compromise for the Russians that Putin can spin into a show of Russian power. But he's playing with fire in taunting Australia in their backyard.

The Treaty of Mobile, held in a local outback and recorded on a cocktail napkin, ensures our supply of blooming onions should never be interrupted. Should any interruptions occur a genetically mutated combination of Crocodile Dundie/Rambo will be dropped behind enemy lines to reek havoc.

Russia is playing a dangerous game. Seems like only a matter of time before one of these countries takes those actions as a sign of aggression and blows a boat or a jet into smithereens. Then shite will really get real.

Are you trying to be funny?

Australia was pretty much the only country that had our backs in Viet Nam. Who gives a shite if they have't been in war by themselves. Name one country in the modern era that has been in a war by themselves.

I think there were some Korean troops there for a while, too.

Added. Just checked this. At times, there were as many as 48,000 Korean troops in South Viet Nam. They were regarded as very effective and professional.
