Sturgill Simpson

I had only briefly listened to him in the past. I got on spotify and listened to his latest album. Jesus-fricking-christ. He is fantastic.

He and Isbell are in a league of their own as far as country goes right now.

Turnpike Troubadors and American Aquariaum are awesome too.

while I agree both are on top of their game, isbell fits into the folk/americana genre more than he does "country" per se' IMO. he's still a brilliant songwriter, one of the best under the "country" umbrella.

check out john moreland if you like both of them

We've been listening to the same shite.

I've not heard Stoney LaRue's new album that came out last week and I missed him in Fayetteville on Thursday.

Non Nashville to me was always the Bakersfield/Buck Owens sound. The Derailers and Dwight Yoakum come to mind.

I'm not sure he knows who I am on here but tell him LY says hello!

Tell him I'm from BR and good friends with Pratt and he should be able to connect the dots. If you see the tiny bartender with the huge glasses, become her best friend. Her name is Amanda and she's AWESOME.
