I thought that was clear creek? Maybe not. I do remember the bear watch at cimmaronceto and the mayors son fell and brike his knee on a tree root hiking. Took 4-5 of us to carry him on a stretcher 10 miles to the nearest camp so he could be airlifted

I just put the iPod on shuffle and listen to whatever random music happens to get played. I use a slightly different playlist when brewing that is more focused on straight ahead rock, bluegrass and blues.

Scouts were fricking nerds at my school

I was too busy dominating football fields and watching a shitload of Dragon Ball Z to participate in nerd shite

how miserable does that sound? stuck up in a mountain with 15 other little 10 yr olds and one of them busts his leg. so instead of camping and eating smores and shite you have to haul this stretcher across the park to get him airlifted and ruin the trip. what an a-hole.

I'm sure the kid that broke his leg was a fricking nerd too

Probably tripped over his inhaler or something

Not that you're looking for a serious response but...

I'm a pretty proud Eagle Scout. My dad (RIP) was scoutmaster for me, both my brothers, all my cousins, and tons of our friends growing up. He had fifty young men get their Eagles while he was Scoutmaster and impacted a ton of lives.

That being said, he'd be run out of scouting these days with the way he ran our troop. It was pretty brutal and "outlaw," but we destroyed the competition in any camporee.

We also camped pretty much twice a month, usually one "advanced" outing (canoeing, long backpacking, climbing, sailing, survival skills, etc..) and one "novice" for the younger scouts.

All that being said, I've looked at getting my own sons into scouts, and I just can't do it. The current climate of scouting isn't what it used to be.

i was already in GDF before my eighth birthday. I was smoking crack and hitting up Ratdog shows on the reg. Instead of boy scout camping trips I went to AllGood and instead of wearing those funny costumes I wore tie dye.

Hah. That's my wife. She was following the Dead in 8th grade. Somehow she turned out really well adjusted.
