The #1 player in the country for the class of 2015, Ben Simmons, signs his letter of intent to play for LSU at 1:30 pm.

Dude is a program changing, future #1 overall pick in the NBA draft.

To Ben, CJJ, Coach David Patrick, and the rest of the staff....

I thought Adam silver was gonna implement an age rule that would make players stay two years. Will he be gone before this has a chance to happen?

Well when he goes #1 in the draft he will show other big time players that you can get drafted from a school not named Duke, Arizona, UNC, or UK...

One player can make a team. Think Kevin Durant or melo. If he came say 3 years ago he might not change win column much but we have a better more stable program now. These type of players can bring you deep into tourney

Unlike Football, one great player can make a huge difference in basketball.

Mom needs to understand that he can do that at any time after making millions in the pros.

Possibly a bigger signing. Shaq was a McDonald's AA and obviously went onto be an enormous force, but as a senior he wasn't on the USA Today All American 1st team and he didn't win any of the Player of the Year awards (Naismith, Gatorade, etc.). Kenny Anderson swept the field that year, with Bobby Hurley, Jim Jackson and Allan Houston all finishing ahead of Shaq.

As far as being a decorated and highly-valued/ranked high school player, Randy Livingston is probably the biggest get for LSU basketball in the last 20-25 years. Chris Jackson has an argument also, as will Simmons.

I'm doubtful we get anyone. We are competing for some 5 stars with the big boys. We have some other guys who can fill the class if we don't sign those guys, but we aren't gonna let them sign early if they are backup plans.

Unless Lyle (a 2014 5 star PG who didn't qualify last season) decides to forego his last official visit to UNC, I think it's just the 1 guy this week.

Is this a definite? ESPN doesn't list it as one of the expected signings. I do realize that he is committed anyway.

Dozier is the first domino in what is expected to be a fairly quiet early signing period. Top-25 prospects Skal Labissiere, Isaiah Briscoe and Derrick Jones will announce their college decisions Thursday on ESPNU, while four-star small forward Tevin Mack is expected to choose later this week. Nearly every other remaining top-100 prospect is likely to wait until the spring.

Edit: I see his signing day tweet, so I guess it's a reasonable surety.

100% definitely.

The decision of Briscoe could have a big time effect on LSU recruiting... If he picks UK and UK gets Newman then their guard class is likely too full for them to accept a commitment from Blakeney and I think UK is our biggest competition.
