Simmons and Lowe discussed the Pelicans for a few minutes on today's BS Report. Started around the 32nd minute of the show. Bill is convinced that the Pels will make the playoffs if the Thunder don't make it. Lowe said he'd still pick the Suns, but didn't feel good about it and said that he thinks the Pels will "win a lot of games". They also talked about how terrible Gordon is.

Don't know if this deserves it's own thread, but was interesting nonetheless:

giving Rivers some love too

Just finished listening to it a little while ago. Obviously I knew Gordon had been playing poorly but my God a PER of 3?! And conversely AD with the PER of 35, holy crap. Simmons basically said that Gordon has taken over as the worst contract in the NBA and it's hard to argue with.

There's just no defending Gordon. He has been horrendously awful.

That's exactly what he's said. I think Gordon still has potential, so I'm not sure I'm ready to say he's the worst contract, but he's trending in that direction.

One thing they didn't point out was if we take the Lakers trade for CP3, we don't get The Brow. There's no way we are bad enough with Martin, Scola, Dragic, and Odom.

He doesn't have the potential to live up to 14-15 mil a year. He did like 4 years ago but not anymore.

He has potential to be a 10mil/yr player.

That's good enough for me.

If he was making say 8 mil I doubt people would make such a fuss. He's playing good/great D and his shots just haven't fallen yet.

It's just he's making near 15 mil that's made the issue ten times worse.

He has been very bad offensively and that's the problem.

I thought of this, too. Give me Dragic over Gordon any day of the week, but I'll definitely take AD over Dragic

A little success wil make it possible to get better bench guys and another quality starter in the near future.

If everyone stays consistent with what they're doing, Eric Gordon hits his career average, or even a tick below it, I think the 50 win mark is obtainable.

Jrue Holiday: 43/30/100; career low from 3
2.7 REB
6.8 AST
1.7 TOV

Tyreke Evans: 36/45/70; career low in fg%, career high in 3pt
7.2 REB
6.5 AST
2.7 TOV
career best in reb/ast; career average for tov

Ryno: 42/42.5/75; below career avg for fg% (42.7), above career 3pt (38.7%)

I think Asik keeps his 10/10 and 55 fg%

Eric Gordon is the huge anomaly with 7.8ppg
Shooting 29.3/19.0/64.3
His attempts this year 9.7/3.5/2.3
He has made 2.8/0.7/1.5 this year

His career average has been 44.0/36.6/80.7
If you give him career averages, he is at
4.3/1.3/1.9

Which gives him 11.8. +4.0ppg.

The legendary "Sportsguy" Bill Simmons and Father Pellie himself, Zach Lowe. Does life get any better than this?

Bill Simmons is in love with Anthony Davis. His athlete crushes are pretty funny and get intense. He's going to talk up the Pels as long as possible. Zach Lowe is also the only person in America who thinks Monty is a good coach so it's interesting to hear.

I was referring to the fact that he has potential to not be the worst contract in the NBA. Not potential to live up to 15mil per year. Gerald Wallace doesn't have potential, same with Amare. Their contracts are better than Gordon, solely because they are one year shorter.
