He seems to be a really good guy that loves football and you can see it by the way he talks and everything. He watches game film constantly and tries to make himself better but its just not there sometimes. He does make some good passes a lot of times and I feel that if he would look to more than 1 or 2 receivers on a play, then he would find more success. I say a lot of things about him during the game, but when I saw his facemask get ripped off and him laying down and screaming, I don't know what hit me but I felt really bad. I really like the dude and wishes he could possibly get better over the spring time this off season and be a very good QB next year. He has the potential to do it.
I know I'm possibly gonna get hates and down votes on this but this dude loves the game, and he tries his hardest to do good and win LSU some games.

He is a Tiger and I root for him when he is on the field. There is just a maturation that has to take place for all young QB's. I like his leadership, but idk if he is the long term answer at the position.

I completely agree. I feel for every Tiger out there, representing purple and gold. They all work their asses off, but just because you work doesn't mean you'll be all-american. He is making progress, but I don't think he has the same talent that other QB's have. Plain and simple. I'll root for him as long as he's with us, and after he's gone, though.

It's business and he hasn't come through. I don't feel sorry for him one iota. He's had his opportunity to shine on national television several times over and has been a shell of what he was recruited on. Notice he hasn't improved in almost all facets of his game? That should tell Miles something.

With that said,

When he throws it hard he has the dreaded nose down ball that is almost impossible to catch. Very JJ like. He throws nice deep balls but the game is way too fast for him right now and it doesn't seem to be getting any better

His knowledge of the offense is the reason he plays. That won't last with time and harris getting reps in practice. Harris will beat him out this spring. Mark it down

I'm with you. The kid tries his hardest, he takes some serious hits out there.

The one thing I wish he would get away from is throwing long bomb passes downfield, sort of trying to "win" the game right then and there.

He's got a great arm but he likes to go for that "home run" pass to Dural, a lot.

But I agree with you. Solid post.

I do too, hope he can improve and have a good career. Hate to see someone who works so hard fail.

I like AJ too. He really is a good down-to-earth guy who cares about the game and about LSU. I can forgive him of his mistakes as long as he manages the game well. However, on that fourth-down play in overtime, he had a field of grass in front of him and he chose to throw the ball. To me, that is a hard thing to forgive especially when the game is on the line.

Everyone's attitude and compassion on this post is great! I too would love to see AJ breakout and become a solid contributor. Of course he is putting his heart and soul into becoming a great QB for LSU.

But this is a tough and competitive world! If you can't cut it, you fall by the wayside! Only the elite players suceed in the end. There are a lot of disappointed QB's and other players who become heartbroken because they get benched. For AJ, the stats tell the story. Unless he is able to turn them around, he is a liability, not an asset to the team's ability to win. I keep hoping for improvement, but so far it hasn't happened. With an average QB performance against Bama, we win. The "D" was outstanding until the last drive. The "O" line was excellent. The RB's did their job.

This loss hurt!

Recognizing one's own limitations is a part of growing up. Think about your childhood dreams vs. life's reality. Most people have to learn to settle at some time or another. AJ seems like a good kid, a worker, a leader, and a team-player. I'm sure he's a great tiger. But if he can't start producing, we have to look elsewhere. That's life. Maybe these kids get hard lessons earlier than most of us, but they also have the opportunity to earn what average white-collar professionals make in a career in a few months time by their mid-20s.

He's a good dude and a better team player than any of those criticizing him would be, myself included. I dont blame him for his lack of success. I would be happy to see him succeed over the next 2 years. I dont think that will happen, but i think he deserves success and i do hope it comes to him.

He proved in the 2nd half Saturday that he can make a few throws and scramble enough to help win games. He just needs to be more consistent. Whether or not that happens, who knows. It almost seems like a confidence issue at this point.

He doesn't need to be an all world QB for this team to be successful. If he can consistently throw around 13-20 for 200yds and 1-2 TDs, this team would be really good.

Look he has the coaches confidence right now and I am pulling for him, but at the end of the day this is a competition out there and we need our best players playing. If AJ is it, than he needs to get better because with his play so far we are not going to win championships with that kind of play. Do I want him to become great? Absolutely, but if he doesn't get measurably better over the next 3 games, then we need to find the QB that will bring us championships. Harris has had a ton of praise put on him from experts like George Whitfield who has worked with him, so getting him some substantial playing time over the next 3 games seems like the prudent thing to do. At this point we need to start planning for next year since the only thing we are playing for at this point is which bowl we are going to.

Do you have a clue as to how many things are happening on the field at one time? Its easy to scramble in the middle of the third quarter when if you fall short you just go out and kick it. In OT he had one play to get 10 yards and made the best decision he could based on what he saw. If any blame place it on the decision to go to the end zone three straight times when they only needed 10 yards to get a fresh set of downs.
