Mickey is going to earn his money.

1) Colston - time to go. Really slow...doesn't threaten a defense at all. Need a replacement big bodied WR in FA.

2) 2 new inside linebackers - i think I read that Lofton and Hawthorne are due over 11,000,000 in salary and bonuses in 2015. Cuts?

3) 2 new corners - white is done. Robinson is close. We likely will have a core of Lewis, Dixon, and Baptiste...need a very solid #2 veteran to start next year.

4) Oline needs changes--need a center and a guard.

5) Given the last 3 weeks, we need to come up with a new RB plan. I'm not sure Pierre is in the future. Khiry is cheap. Ingram is a baller...but how much would he cost?

Not sure how we accomplish all of that with our cap struggles.

Lofton will get restructured. Hawthorne is gone.

I think Evans is gone, as is Colston.

Drew is going to restructure. So will a few other players I would imagine.

Legit question - Does Drew have to re-structure in order to retain most or a lot of these other guys? Add in the Byrd contract and it seems like those 2 alone make up a huge portion.

1. Colston is gonna take a paycut, or june 1 cut. His cap is 9.7mil and 5.4 is dead (4.3 is savings) if outright cut.

2. The way Lofton is playing right now, he's going to stay even with a 9mil cap hit (5.0mil dead; 4.0mil savings) - I think he'll get an extension or restructure that's why. Hawthorne is gone though imo, 6.01mil cap hit (3.02mil dead; 2.99mil savings)

3. Robinson has played solid since game 1 and 2. He can stay on a small contract imo.

4. Agreed. Grubbs or Evans goes, but I don't think both.

Grubbs: 9.6mil cap (6.0mil dead; 3.6mil savings)
Evans: 11mil cap (5.0mil dead; 6.0mil savings)

We better not think either of these is better than a 4th corner next season.

The problem with Drew and Jairus restructuring is their age and the dead money cap hit in the future when we ultimately have to cut bait.

Robinson is probably in that number, but we still need a 2nd/3rd CB either in FA or draft.

PT is starting to get old, no? He's still balling, but they probably need to start looking out for that wall RBs eventually hit.

If Robinson had any kind of awareness he would be an elite corner. That dude is a freak athlete. You can just see the difference between him and White in terms of quickness and his hips. He just completely freaks out when he has his back to the ball.

Uh, can we lay off Dixon?

He's a UDFA rookie playing reasonably well.

I'm not upset with him, he's playing above his pay grade, this is the coaches fault. On a reasonable D he's the 5th corner or on the practice squad right now. If we're counting on a lot of him and SJB next season we're doing the same thing we did this year foolishly counting on Robinson and White.

This or the draft.

Lofton has played very well so he'll likely restructure.

Hawthorne maybe.

Robinson has played well enough to stay on as a number 3. We need a decent #2 CB in FA.

We can just draft one late.

Cap goes up with the new TV deal next year, right? That was why it was so important not to restructure Drew until next year.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. I will seriously not be upset if the Saints draft nothing but corners and o-linemen.

The plan was ALWAYS to restructure the last two years of Drew's contract and kick the can forward. They've known they were going to have a ton of dead money after Drew retires.

This was all heavily speculated the second the ink was dry on the contract.

Can we sneak in a LB somewhere if we don't sign one.

If our pick is in the 20s and on, I hope we go

BPA between OG/ILB/CB to start.

Then, later rounds we can add in WR to that group and draft BPA between those positions.

One way to look at Dixon and Baptiste.... they can only improve.

While I agree that they shouldn't be seeing significant playing time, they are rookies being thrown to the wolves.

2015 isn't the problem, in 2016 were gonna have serious cap issues
