Celtic manager Ronny Deila has expressed his disappointment after some fans disrupted a Remembrance Sunday silence ahead of their 2-1 victory over Aberdeen.

The minute of reflection, which remembers British servicemen and women who have died in conflicts since the First World War began 100 years ago, was quickly interrupted by some fans shouting and signing from the visiting section at Aberdeen's Pittodrie Stadium.

quote:

Some Celtic supporters tried to shout the protesters down and noise was evident throughout the 60 seconds, just before the Scottish Premiership game kicked off.

Good to see some fans try and shut them up but it didn't work.

Celtic was also the only club not to wear the poppy flower on their jersey.

To put this in perspective this would be like fans booing our troops during veterans day at games. shite like this really pisses me off

There were about 20 fans in total making noise.

What are you basing that off of?

Nothing has reported it was only 20 fans. Regardless its still shameful and was loud enough to make skysports this morning.

Even worse is Celtic fans have died in combat and these people still boo which was loud at the end.

LOL

The mics were turned off when this happened. So there goes that.

Im not saying it was the whole away support but it was enough to be heard throughout the ground. Good on the fans who tried to make them shut up but it still happened. No way you can justify this Bhoy.

You can hear someone being loud when everyone else is being silent. That's kind of how sound works.

Also, let me get this straight:

- Sucker-punching a guy waiting for a taxi with his wife = good

- Trashing a stadium = good

- Making noise during a moment of silence = bad

That about right?

I love the deflection. You are almost defending their actions.

It was more than just making noise. It was booing and chants during a time to show respect for fallen military members. This isn't the first time this has happened.

No idea why you bring up smashing up stadiums b/c Celtic fans got in trouble for it last year.

Nothing really to argue about in this thread, but he will defend Celtic till the end.

Two of their fans got arrested in the ground for assault.

Every other match in England, Scotland and Wales had this with no issues, other than the one including Celtic.

This is a lie. We're just the only ones that get in the media for it (along with McClean).

Because there isn't an issue.

Prove it, btw I have no issue with McClean. His right to have the choice not to wear it came from the sacrifices others made.

You are delusional

This is like people booing during veterans day at an NFL game. The fact you are downplaying Celtic fans actions shows how out of touch with reality you are.

My first thought as well. I lurk this board everyday and seems to be an extremely consistent theme.

I'm not excusing it, but you're being incredibly naive about early 20th century Irish history, specifically its involvement in WWI.

No im not being naive, I know the Irish fought along with its American and British in WWI and this being the 100 anniversary . Regardless Celtic is a club in Scotland not Ireland. Celtic fans and players have served and died in combat. Yet it still doesn't stop their shameful actions.
