One of two things is true regarding our QB situation

1)When evaluating who should start, Miles is godawful at it
or
2)Of the 4 QBs we recently recruited, AJ, Rivers, Rettig, Harris.....AJ is in fact the best we got.
Many of you are arguing that "Miles knows best and AJ should be starting over Harris(or, for that matter, Rettig/Rivers).
If that is true. All we managed with those 4 dudes was someone capable of being the NINETY FOURTH RATED QB in the nation, then I submit to you that this is AS BAD if not WORSE than if Miles is just terrible at figuring out who should start.
Do you realize how hard it is at a school of LSU's caliber to actually do no better than the 94th rated guy? 94th isn't just bad, this is in a special category of awful. I'll help put it in perspective. So far this year, statistically, AJ is worse than ANY Jordan Jefferson season. Contemplate that for a moment.
We've had bad quarterbacks before at LSU. This isn't bad. This is a whole new level of futility that is blissfully covered up by the fact that our defense stopped sucking and our running game is absurdly good given how poorly we pass.
Bottom line. No matter whether you think Miles is simply choosing the wrong guy or, think he really DID choose to start the right guy, either way, it represents a colossal failure on Miles' part.
He literally managed to do something in the last few years of recruiting QBs that statistically speaking, a person simply guessing at which 4 start QBs to recruit should've done better.
ETA: I'll add this nugget.
For AJ to equal Jarret Lee's output his catastrophic FRESHMAN year, AJ will need to throw for 607 yards in his next outing (JL played 11 games). Oh, and he'll have to improve his completion percentage by more than 6%f for the season in that one game. I suspect that means he's gonna have to go about 50 for 55 for 608 yards.

The correct answer is #1.
Sincerely,
Jarrett Lee.

It's an amazing accomplishment. That is, the 94th QB in the country.
Wow.

I've never seen a parade of QBs so bad at LSU since the post-Bert Jones era.

Wow! Most of us figured the LSU QB play was pretty poor, but those stats make it clear that things are far worse than anyone even suspected.

Yeah. I had a feeling I'd find what I did, but sheesh, it's sobering when you look at it. This is a whole new level of futility and again, it really could be worse. Imagine how awful AJs numbers would be if he was forced to pass to keep up with a bad defense.

The truth fricking hurts, DOES IT NOT??

Rettig should be the starter.

Then why does Miles continue to start him? His game managing skills aren't enough to outweigh the fact that he can't read a defense to save his life and he is a terrible passer. Even though we have a great running game, we still struggle to score points. If we would've had any semblance of a passing attack last night, we'd have won by 2 TDs or more. Instead Miles continues to trot Jennings out there for series after series and he just can't get it done. It's like we don't even have a QB.

Why is it only Miles fault. Why don't any one point fingers at the SO CALLED QB GURU...Cam Cameron
He is the only person who is responsible for QB development and he also goes on those recruiting trips. Miles is not the person hand picking these QB's

Oh, and beside, they call Miles the HEAD coach for a reason.

I just don't understand how a program as elite as LSU can not have an elite qb most every year. I imagine there are a couple of dozen backups around the country who could start at LSU. Who's to blame?
Les Miles, the high paid Head Coach. I feel good about Harris but why is LSU having to settle for Sunbelt quality qbs?

# 1 - there is no reason lsu in any circumstance should have to start a true or red shirt freshmen qb ... a program like lsu should always have an experienced qb on the roster ...
# 2 - if we are not going to get Brandon Harris some quality snaps in every game then he should have been red shirted ....
# 3 - for what ever reason under clm we have had issues developing qbs ....
# 4 the problem is not recruiting qbs (like many have suggested ) we have had a stable of 4 star guys come through the program , its not like we are trying to win games with Nick Montana out there ....
with all that being said AJ and BH are young guys with a lot of talent , and even though I see many other programs having success with young qbs , I am willing to give them more time ... but by the end of the season and the start of next season there will be no excuses as to why we don't have acceptable qb play ....

There are but two more games in the season and Jennings stats and game have not grown much.

So, to be fair --- How many INTs and Pick6s would AJ have to throw to equal JL's first season?
While we are playing the "what if" game - how does AJ's 1st season compare to Mett's first season? Just curious.

Jarrett Lee had Demetrius Byrd and Brandon Lafell who were upperclassmen.
All of our WRs are basically new or have little experience.
It will get better.

I don't know the answer but I know the question I'd like to ask about LSU and qb. Why is it that other teams can develop a qb better than us? Other teams have started just as young qb as LSU yet they improve while our qbs well not so much with the exception of Mettenberger's final year. It's not just recruiting but developing plays a role and it seems we are lacking in that area.
