Does LSU have a lot of TE's? If so, why?

I keep hearing on the telecasts that we have a ton of TE's for any college football team. Given that we don't use any of them in the offense and you don't seem to notice them in the game much, why do we have so many?

^ It's like he doesn't know that TEs can do more than catch passes.

If I noticed exceptional blocking from them then I might give that some credit. But how many do you need if all they are going to do is block? It seems like having 4-5 on the roster would be more than enough. 3 would get you through most seasons.

We have 10 listed on our roster on espn.com LINK
