Does San Fran want payback? I'm sure they do

They want payback for an illegal hit being flagged? Okay.

Will never understand what all the naysayers were going on about. Dude clear as day took him down with a clothesline. But every analyst decided this was the roughing the passer penalty that went too far. Clothesline across the neck and drag the guy down afterwards by his neck and Ray Lewis split the damn fine.

I'm sure he was referring to their loss.

Maybe not.

A lot of their fans are still upset about the hit.

They are whiners, they earned that name. Never seen a fan base that whines more. A year later and they are still whining. Time to give them another beatdown.

Frick the SF fans. What about the helmet to helmet shot on Pierre that took him out the NFC championship game that was not called? The probably thought that was great form.

Could have been the difference between Saints and SF advancing.

After watching the Brees hit from last year, Brooks' shoulderpad contacts drew's helmet. You can argue about brees being short, or that brooks' arm contacts drew in the chest first, but the bottom line is that the new rules dictate that any contact to the qb's head (incidental or not) will be flagged.

His neck still looks very strong though, holding his head right up, he was very lucky

People tend to forget the helmet/head tug after that hit.

Illegal in every way you want to call it. I'd say it was a flag (I did say Hicks hit on Ryan should have been flagged too) if our own player did the same thing.

I actually don't have as much of a problem with the initial contact but you can clearly see Brooks grab Drew's head/facemask on the way down. They can complain all they want but it's at best a controversial call. They certainly didn't get "screwed" on the call.

I don't think that was a penalty that year. As long as he was not defenseless or the defender did not spear him, helmet to helmet hits were allowed in the open field. This rule has since been changed, but as bad as the hit was it did not warrant a flag under the rules that were in place at that time.

This. If he hits him and just goes through, I'd understand the bitching, but Brooks goes to the ground getting a piece of his facemask (which even touching a QB's helmet is a huge no no), let alone what Brooks did.

Jesus, that looks painful.

Not to beat the dead horse; his arm was definitely high, but I think it was legal. Blown call by the officials, but definitely not the reason they lost that game.

You're not just given points in the NFL. They recovered the ball at their own 45 yard line. Who's to say they drive and come up with 6 points, 3 points, or any at all? It's foolish to me to assume the game would have definitely turned out any differently if that would have been ruled a fumble/legal hit.

Sad thing is the game was 20-up and they had a chance to drive and win the game with a little over 2 minutes left and they failed to...

Gotta love ignorance.

We had it worse at the end of the Lions game, I'd say.
