1) Landrieu is definitely beat. She needed 45% IMHO to be competitive in the runoff. According to John Couvillon she got out the vote early and even that was not enough. She will not get the vote out for a runoff. Money may get scarce for her too as it is obvious she is beat. I will be curious to see how the white vote fell yesterday. I suspect she got the lowest percent of white vote she has ever gotten. I will also be interested to see if the Guillory ads had any impact on black votes for republicans.

2) Cassidy is in with little or no expectations. All he has to do to continue his career as a politician is not screw up.

3) Hillary Clinton is probably looking for a black running mate this morning. It is obvious by looking at the governor's races in Massachusetts and Maryland that the democrats have real problems when the blacks don't turn out. It is the "black" party and the Clintons know it.

4) I have already gotten an email from the "Vitter for Governor" campaign this morning. UGH!!! do we have to endure another year of campaigning? Please change these election dates so we no longer have odd year elections.

5) I was very glad to see both Nunn and Carter soundly beaten in Georgia---another sign of the importance of black turnout to democrats.

6) I predict Jindal will do something during the runoff that will enable him to say on the campaign trial he helped beat Mary Landrieu.

Pretty much agree with all of that.

Except I'm not voting for Vitter for Governor .

Who is running in Vitter's place?

I don't like him for governor.

One more thing---Mary's defeat throws cold water on a Mitch run for governor I suspect.

Probably. I'd almost prefer Mitch to Vitter, though.

If Louisiana elects David Vitter, we will absolutely deserve the kind of governorship we'd get from someone like David Vitter.

Yep, pretty much nailed it.

Want to take back any of your "Cassidy is running a horrible campaign!!!!!" rhetoric?

Vitter has a strong statewide machine---Cassidy was his man.

I would prefer someone else myself. I doubt Vitter is running without knowing some very favorable poll numbers. He has a lot of markers to call that will keep big republicans out of the race. Dardenne may be his only competitor.

If I ran against him, I would literally just only talk about shitting in diapers for sexual gratification.

No. It was a pitiful campaign. He was elected because he was not a democrat at this time and Mary voted with Obama.

He may have another political revelation any day now and decide he was right when he was younger and was a democrat.

I wish he would have taken stands like Gillespie did in Virginia. He might have been able to keep Maness under 5% and gone in without a runoff if thinking small government voters had thought him a real small government proponent.

I know you establishment big government republican boys like to remain vague and centrist but Cassidy taking stands on conservative issues would have helped his vote count not hurt it.

Harry Reid was not calling on the Saints to change their name, however it won't be long before athetists start calling for it.

Jindal will try to pick the senator to take Vitter's place and he will be behind Scott Angelle for governor.
