Just seeing this, but damn was it loud in some parts

Looks like I have a 65 page thread to read. Movie was awesome. Nolan is the master of circular/cyclical films. There was some holes and it could have been a little shorter by trimming some easy fat, but wow, I was fully enthralled and entertained.

I agree, I dont think Murph would send him on a suicide mission nor would Cooper set out on one. He and Murph must have known of a possible way to get back to Brand (and I think this is related to the information inside TARS - position of the planet and how to use gravity to bend time/space).

I really enjoy the discussion. Its why i love Nolans movies so much. They entertain, push boundaries and make the audience use their brain, all while leaving alot left to personal interpretation.

Damn i need to see this movie again.

All I've seen you post referring to the wormhole is that you don't think Jon Nolan worked with Chris on the ending. Nice contribution.

I agree. You haven't. But you have time for personal attacks. Good for you.

It wasn't an argument. It was a contradiction. he will have to pay more for additional argument.

question:

I saw this on a regular movie theater screen. I'm hearing everyone say you have to see it in IMAX or whatever... I loved it on the regular screen, how much of a difference would it look on IMAX? (I'm not even exactly sure what Imax is - looking it up now)

Honestly, you shouldn't let my theory ruin the movie for you. Like I said, some people even think Cooper died when he detached from Brand and went into the blackhole. It's just theories. I've made no personal attacks in this thread unlike some people. All I've posted are theories. Take it or leave it.

That's what happens when someone makes a movie left up to interpretation. Different theories will arise.

I had a problem with Murph telling her dad "this is my family let me spend time with them and you GTFO". like people that's your 124 year old grandpa and great grandpa that saved human existence and they just ignored him.

Same.

I would've thought the family would want to meet the man who traveled through time to get to his daughter and get the answer to save the human race. And that he was 124 looking like 40 is really cool as well

And for Murph, he was everything to her, so I guess 2 minutes with him was plenty!

Honestly the ending was beyond bizarre unless they had no idea who that was in their presence. Although the family was in a tight spot. Joy and celebrate the return of Cooper mixed with respect and grief at the imminent loss of Murphy.

She knew he felt like an alien among his own family. The only person with whom he had anything in common, culturally, socially, was Brand. And she's alone.

It's typical Nolan - a really strange family situation compounded by a tragedy.

The writing on this film was excellent. This screenplay will be nominated for major awards. This film will end up highly decorated, rightly so.

Agreed, so will the cinematography. But none of that escapes that scene being awkward and a bit silly. His grand and great-grandkids barely smiled at him

Murph traveled 2 years/weeks? to see him (and lived 80+ without him). He traveled what 90 years? I think more than the 3 minutes on film together would have been appropriate or they could have eluded to him spending more time with her "off camera". It doesn't take away from the film as a whole though.
