Why are there so many split votes for multiple R candidates? I'm not familiar with the LA political process. Are these all write-ins?

It's an open primary. So everyone was on the ballot instead of having party primaries back in the spring/early summer.

Because a small percentage of our population wishes they lived in France.

our first primaries are a "jungle" primary, which is a super open primary where anybody can run. if nobody gets 50% + 1, there is a primary of the top 2

Jungle primary. If a single candidate takes the majority they win. If no majority, top 2 candidates no matter the party go to runoff.

That needs to be changed. Now.

They allow more than just the candidates of the two major parties to run in the primary. The top two candidates then go head-to-head in a run-off election.

Open primary and if no one gets to 50% initially then the final two duke it out in a runoff. I think it's the most fair and open system in the country.

I thinks it's the same in Gerogia, right?

If it were like most other states, she'd already be out.

Why? it not only allows people who aren't the two national party candidates to get in there but it also requires a majority vote to win.

They should do the presidential elections that way.

No. The runoff that was suspected in GA was due to the smaller party/independents that are allowed to run.

Ga has primaries. This is La.'s primary, albeit an open primary.

I have mixed feelings on it but a clear drawback is that one of the top two candidates can manipulate a third candidate to draw votes from his/her biggest opponent.

Guess I'm just unfamiliar with it.

I'd love it if states would adopt the Maine / Nebraska rules on electoral college votes.

Is that what they did in 2002?
