If not, why not?

We have the same kind of team on offense, and he is the king of loading the box and stopping the run with big LB's and big-hitting Safeties.

AJ10 throws the deep ball on the sideline well, so that is the only real threat that must be protected for by Kirby and company.

This makes me think Miles will have a secret playbook. Perhaps Harris has a few planned series strategically placed in the first half to mix things up. Or does LF7 throw a halfback option pass when the safety cheats up?

What, aside from pure hope that AJ10 can execute intermediate and long passes in reasonable fashion, should Cam do to prevent 9 men-in-the-box Bama defenses throughout most of the game?

Their defense is nowhere close to as good as that 2011 defense. Their game plan is simply "stop the run."

Not much, really, but I am stretching my hope because I love my Tigers, and hope we do not see the square peg in a round hole approach once again.

You mean the one that has led to 3 straight wins?

You mean ask Gregg Williams for help again? I hope he does, because Cameron destroyed his defenses when Williams was with the Saints.

There's no ambiguity in how to shut down LSU's offense. Stop the run at all costs because we simply can't pass.

Amazingly, it didn't matter against Ole Miss because the rushing attack was so dominant. If that dominance happens against Bama, LSU should win, and Saban may have a stroke on the sideline.

It is just wrong to compare the Bama D to the Ole Miss D. Ole Miss has speed laterally and athleticism, so we had the advantage to run up the gut and wear them down and take away their speed (somewhat). Bama is going to present a different challenge altogether, as they will go with the "beef-it-up" in the middle with more ability to 1) resist the Oline and 2) substitute in with the depth they have to match us in the 4th Qtr. Ole Miss and Bama both have strong D's, but HOW they have strong D's is totally different. We matched up well against Ole Miss, but not nearly as well against Bama.

2014 Bama is not dominant like 2011 Bama.

Bama beat LSU in the 2012 BCSCG for several reasons not applicable to this year.

First, the BCSCG was a rematch. The GOTC loss motivated Bama to better prepare for and play the BCSCG. Bama was highly motivated to win the revenge game.

Second, the offensive line played terribly in the BCSCG. Hurst was jumping offsides when he wasn't getting whipped or blocking the wrong man. LSU RBs rushed for 1.8 yards per carry. Jefferson had no time to throw. This year's OL is far better.

Third, Bama played a far riskier offense in the BCSCG than they typically play. Bama lost the GOTC, so they knew they had to change things up. I expect Saban to keep things conservative this time around.

Four, LSU has better backs, better WRs, and Cam this time around.

Bama did not inordinately load the box in the 2012 BCSCG; LSU's OL just didn't block Bama's front seven.

Bama D staff has decided what it will take to stop LSU's run game, the one Ole Miss saw. They nor anyone going forward this season will assume LSU can pass a lick....and they are correct.
If LSU thinks BAMA and OM are close to the same on defense they will run into the teeth of Smart and Saban's defense.

Les is stubborn to a fault why would he change this week ?
He had no answer in the 1/9/12 game, but kept on keeping on.

So what would you consider a square peg in a round hole approach?

A. Trying to run the ball (which is our strength), into a stacked box.

or

B. Trying to throw the ball, which we suck at, into man to man coverage?

There are advantages and disadvantages to both. This is one of those scenarios where you're damned if you do, damned if you don't. Run the ball ineffectively and everybody bashes Miles for trying to run into a stacked box. Throw the ball ineffectively and everybody bashes Miles for putting the pressure on Jennings to win the game against Bama.

Win and none of the above applies. So let's just win.

Jeez we are not fricking Georgia Tech. We ARE passing the ball, just not the best in the world. Especially since we don't run screens as much as other teams *cough* Bama *cough

Everyone that thinks we can't throw the ball at all is severely underestimating what we do on offense. Travin Dural can burn ANYONE on a football field. That guy can flat out fly and Jennings is almost always on the money with the deep ball. So much of what we do is based on the looks we get from the threat of us having the best deep ball wr in college football. AJ is starting to recognize defenses a little better which is allowing him to exploit underneath coverages. And bama's secondary and lbs ain't that damn great in coverage.

If Bama plays the way they did on 1/9, LSU is fricked no matter what play book they use. Nobody was beating Bama on that day.
