Thought just occurred to me..I don't actually know the answer to this.
Rather than google it, naturally I turned to the OT.

Unfortunately no WKRP in Cincinnati. Been here 4 years and it's interesting seeing some of the buildings from the show and how the city has grown.

The station was fictitious. However, there is an independent TV station WKRP-TV. They show retro shows. Magnum PI is on right now. Charlie's Angels airs following that. Sounds like a cool station.

Yes, and they actually throw live tame turkey's out helicopters at Thanksgiving and make ducks dance, by putting a hotplate under a tinfoil stage.

There used to be a WKRP, but not in Cincinnati.

Best theme song ever. And the turkey episode was the best

That show was a pretty damn accurate

I think there is one now. Some obscure local station adopted the call letters a few years ago.

The WKRP that is active now is an online TV station that shows a bunch of old shows. There is no physical presence for the most part.

Do you think Johnny Fever would have ever taken payola? I would like to think not.
