Speaking of EPA fraud.......

We put E85 in my wife's Altima for the first time last week. She normally gets around 560 miles our of a tank of regular E15 gas. We decided to use the E85 due to it being about $.20/gal cheaper.
She only got just over 400 miles out of the E85 but it's supposed to be so grand???
Ethanol is such a lie. Monsanto and ADM said thanks America!

It's widely known that MPG goes down with E85, however, if your car is tuned for it, you will notice an substantial increase in power......always a tradeoff.

If there's no benefit, why do it? All it does is drive the net cost of food up because if that corn were put into something besides ethanol the extra supply would lower costs across the board, mostly for meat.

Ethanol has half the gas mileage but does have more octane so yeah you can make more power only if tuned for it. It also can not be shipped by pipeline which is critical and then there is the dead zone in gulf. Like wind and solar the negatives out way the positives but so called environmentalists stick to it.

I am sorry you are too much of a dumbass to do research and see that E85 gives you worse mileage. Nobody is lieing to you about that butcorn ehtanol is helping us be less reliable on foreign oil and some what cleaner (corn ethanol barely and cellosic by 60-90% but that is atleast 15yrs in the future). A quick google search would give you the answer.
Literally the first link on google when you type in E85 worse gas mileage
potential 90% reduction in CO2 from cellosic ethanol in the future

I have not met an enviromentalist yet that likes corn ethanol. They cry about the raise in food prices. Using more than 10-15% corn ethanol is just dumb because the added savings from using a "homegrown" additive are outweighted by the negatives. 20 years from now though when we are using 20-50% cellosic ethanol it will be a different story.

From an ethanol web site:
quote:
Ethanol has less energy content than gasoline. However, E85 also has a much higher octane (typically in the 96-98 range) than gasoline. FFVs are not optimized for E85 and therefore experience a 15-20% drop in fuel economy. The actual amount varies tremendously between vehicle models and drivers.

In your valiant effort to call me a dumbass, neither of you (as usual for bootlickers) didn't answer the question.
If it's not more efficient, then why do it? And, how very "left" of you to resort to name calling instead of answering the question. Well done....

Who lied and told you ethanol and gasoline have the same energy content?
I never heard that one. Its kinda common sense that they don't.

Why are you asking us? You're the one who did it.
If gasoline prices go up to $6 a gallon you might change your tune.

Glad to see you support big AG and more profit.

No one ever said E85 got better gas mileage than E10. Congrats on getting what you paid for.

So, I can see none of you geniuses are able to answer the question.
And BTW, I'm not the one that passed the regulations mandating that Ethanol be used. And, to me it doesn't matter what side of the isle passed it if it's not a net gain for the populace then why do it?

Ethanol is an alternative fuel that in theory could lower our dependence on foreign oil. It is also considered renewable, unlike fossil fuels.
However, current production methods in the United States do not really make ethanol a cost effective choice.
