He does well with set plays like that. Holiday in OT v Chicago last year sticks out. Many set plays involving Anderson are neat.

His basic offense is lacking IMO.

After watching what the spurs did last season in the playoffs, all offenses are lacking haha

More times than not Monty's late game plays after a timeout result in a prayer.

You will not see this run better in the NBA... LINK

Perfectly executed. Every guy on the court is in motion.

Btw, thats the youtube page Lowe uses for the videos in his articles. There's plenty of Hornets/Pelicans stuf there. You just have to search for it because its labeled funky.

The "plays" we ran down the stretch were hand the ball to one player and four players get out of his way. I can't put enough parentheses around plays

Which are what he has to resort to because there aren't enough parentheses in the world to convey the same meaning as quotation marks. He knew exactly what he was saying.

1 quotation mark = 1 million parentheses

Yep, but I doubt the design was for Tyreke to play 1-on-5 and ignore his teammates. AD's reaction was aggravation with Evans, not Williams.

Eh. Sometimes guys miss shots or break plays. Same Chicago game, Holiday missed or ignored a wide open Gordon to take a pull up J at the end of regulation.

Monty isn't a genius there, but that is one of his few in-game coaching strengths IMO.

Yep. Great play and execution.

Great action, but it's just an isolated play. No follow up or countermoves. If Davis isn't there, the flow just stops and we get a forced shot. Too often for me, the offense just stops if the first action doesn't geberate a shot. Or that action seems designed to create mid range Js.

That's not all on Monty either. Guys break plays or miss open teammates. But we've seen this offense for 5 years.

Nylon Calculus on the geometry of corner 3s yesterday was revelatory

Edit: LINK

TL- Corner 3s aren't more efficient because of distance, but rather geometry; players are typically more open when they shoot from the corners than other spots

What is evident is that those corner threes seem, to me, to be more open than other threes. Whether it is ball movement or scramble plays, over the years you see the guy in the corner late in the game getting the ball and knocking it down.

Jason Terry comes to mind.

Hubie Brown says the Pelicans run some "really good sets"

I can't think of many sets last night that seemed to involve more than 2 players at a time. Our goto plays appear to be bad 3s, Tyreke Kamikazi, AD 20 footers, and hoping Asik can bail you out on a failed rim run.
