Sites I have visited keep directing me to my local dealer, about whom I've heard a lot of horror stories.

I'm looking for a reputable online Hyundai SUV dealer to get the best bang for my buck. Anyone with experience in shopping this way?

I've bought the last dozen vehicles I own online all in Texas and I've paid about 5k less than anything in LA.

It's a great way so just keep searching until you find the right dealer. Get quotes from several different ones.

2 of the last 3 cars I've bought have been out of state and online. One in Dallas and the other in Miami. Both were 5-7k less than the comps in BR/NOLA and came with warranties to ease the issues.

Flew there signed the papers and drove back.

Don't want to offend the local dealer, but just too much smoke there. I don't need financing, just motivated dealer.

Calling BS, the only reason could be that you shopped poorly in Louisiana.
The Pascagoula area (Gulfport to Mobile) is not a great-priced car market historically, there's not enough market pressure for it to be one.

Why would you want to shop online? Online ads and numbers are meant to get the customer in so the sales staff can get a crack at the customer.

Just looking to cast a wider net for more competitive pricing. Not many Hyundai dealers in North Louisiana.

The approach is to do research at independent sites out there that will give you an good idea of what to offer. Then email several dealers and offer a take it or leave it price for the exact vehicle you want. We bought a car 14 years ago this way. Good mark down, no negotiating. Went to the dealer, signed a few papers (paying cash simplifies this enormously), and drove away with the car. It has 193,000 miles on it now so this is nothing new.

Not sure where you are located, but we had a great experience buying our Santa Fe from Hyundai of Longview. It is an hour west of Shreveport.

Not sure about Hyundai but I've bought a bunch from Lewis Chevrolet in Canton and a couple from the Ford dealership in Gladewater, both just past Longview.

Texas is just such a big market they can make a better deal.

Longview is an easy drive. How is tax, title, etc handled when you buy out of state?

Any dealership will do warranty work.

I bought a car near Miami and have had work done in NOLA area.

When I bought my car, I was issued a FL temp tag, waited a few weeks for the paperwork to go through and switched to Louisiana tags.

Your bill of sale will show taxes paid. Louisiana will credit you for taxes already paid. I think (but not sure) that the amount of your Louisiana registration is some weird calculation of what they value your car.
