So we are now sitting at 15, so who are the best bets on the last 10?

I follow recruiting from afar. But I seem to recall in the past someone used to post a list of the recruiting class position by position with # current commits, # offers, numbers by need and expect to take. This was by far the most valuable recruiting info available. Obviously that takes a lot of work, but where is best place to get that info?

I'm not sure that we take 25 this year.

thanks Ray. that's some good basic starting info to know about this class.

So, I tried to get a little less lazy... how far off are these needs?

QB-1 McMillan (need met)
RB-3 Guice, Brossette, Ducre (need met; Ducre is hybrid FB/RB, correct?)
WR-1 Jazz (take 1 or 2 more)
TE-2 Shipley, Mouton (need met)
OL-3 Teuhema, Magee, Womack (take 1 or 2 more)

DE-1 Washington (NEED! 2 more?)
DT-0 ???? where's the beef? (NEED! 2 more?)
CB-2 Toliver, Lewis (take 1 or 2 more)
S-1 Cutrer (take 1 or 2 more)

LS-1 Ferguson (need met)
K-1 Gonsoulin (need met)

I get the feeling we'll take 21 or 22. If we take 25 we're going to be offering some folks pretty late.

More like the final 7. We aren't taking a full 25.

I'm sure we could process some players and make room for the full 25. Sorry and morally corrupt as it is, we have to play the game if we are going to keep up.

Process them for WHO?

If you havent noticed we arent exactly leaders for a ton of top prospects right now.

We are definitely taking a full class. When signing day came and went this year everyone said we were done at 23 but the coaching staff filled those last spots. They will do the same with this class. No reason not to take a full class

This class and last class are WAY different. We were in on a ton of top prospects and considered the leaders for many of them. We are only at 15 commit, and this late I dont see how we get 10 more guys the coaches actually want on board.

Sure there is, if you cant get players you think cant contribute on this level dont go out and get them.

On top of that, we only have 13 scholarship seniors on this team. What if we dont have 5 or 6 underclassmen declare for the NFL and only maybe 2 or 3 do?

top prospects or not, you are still better off taking a full class every year. You never really know how a player is going to develop.

What makes you think we'll have the room to take a full class? Do we really want to turn into Bama and tell 3 or 4 kids they dont have a scholarship going into their junior or senior season because we took a flyer on a 3-star freshman?

That would be nice but I'm not getting my hopes up. After the last couple of years I expect most of the draft eligible players to go.

All six of these players are likely to get drafted if they decide to leave:
Jalen Mills
Jalen Collins
Kwon Alexander
Danielle Hunter
Vadal Alexander
Jerald Hawkins
Travin Dural

So we'll take the moral high ground and let them have the championships? We're handicapping ourselves if we don't do it.

Look, I get it if it's a highly recruited kid that at the last minute wants to jump on board...but we're not going to be in that situation. We're going to have to offer kids we havent already offered, a.k.a. plan B/C types.

Isn't Shipley expected to beef up and play tackle for us?

ole Miss, Mississippi, and Arkansas are loaded with our plan b/c types. Garret Thomas, Oshea Dugas, Derrick Dillon, Deshawn Raymond, Arther McGinnis, Jason Pelliran, TD MOten, Grant Burgillous, Joe Anderson, etc. All might be plan b/c types. Duke Riley and Russell Gage were. Who knows who might develop into a star player first day draft pick. The odds are lower on plan b types but it happens. When you need to make room for the next recruiting class you get rid of (process out the Saban way) the ones who aren't going to ever make it.
