Sucks for you. The "riff raff" is what makes giving out candy fun.

Yea I suppose.

What I don't get though....is why she would buy MY favorite candy....that I have to turn around and give away.

Cruel and unusual.

We went to the high school football game, then hit the drive thru on the way home. And a car was cruising down our street, letting the kids out to ring the bell at each house with a light on. This was after 10 pm

Yes, a few children from other neighborhoods came to mine so they could have a good time trick or treating in a safe environment. I'm sorry that bothers you.

You got it. I see the kids in my neighborhood all the time and they see me put up my halloween decorations throughout the week. Every year they go through the same maze to get to the candy and they're conditioned to the small scares. So It's great to see "out of towners" come in with their tiny costumes and big eyes, scared shitless because of my dry ice effects, creepy robots, audio screaming, cobwebs and robot spiders everywhere. If it wasn't' for the out of towners I'd have quit years ago. They truly enjoy that shite more than my real neighbors.. and they're all invited to the gumbo/hotdog/candy party after the maze…you can hear some cool shite from those little kids and their parents over a chili dog. I love this day and hope more "out of towners" come next year.

If you live in a fancy neighborhood that has visitors of lesser means it's a prefect opportunity for both sides to interact and realize the other guy ain't so bad: The out of towner gets some respect and free candy, fancy dude doesn't get robbed and has a pleasant conversation with someone he'd normally not have anything to do with. Great for relations among the different status spheres

Your Halloween is how I remember Halloween. Lots of kids around me growing up. My parents say they get only a handful of kids now....if any.

We live in a neighborhood that is trending the other way which is cool. Number of trick or treaters going up. Maybe I'll go all out one year like you. Sounds fun.

It's people like you that make me have faith in humanity. Who gives a shite if some of the kids have a shitty home life. It's for the kids.

Please do, you won't regret it. It doesn't have to be Disney level shite. These little kids come in and have more fun than you could imagine, then you invite the kids and their parents in the house for gumbo or hot dogs or more candy. I've had great conversations with total strangers. All worth it. now one of my favorite nights of the year. I guess until one of them cases the joint and robs me blind. But that hasn't happened yet.

Lots of dry ice and robot stuff is the key .

Dude. Awesome.

The only funny thing I saw/heard was one family was meeting up right down the street and one of the little boys was dressed up like a police officer. Cute as hell. Anyway, a male relative saw him and was like "aww hell no, outta all the things you coulda dressed him as..."

You had me until you mentioned them coming inside. We can eat gumbo and chili dogs in the garage.

My neighborhood is trending more and more towards Asian/Indian and, just like the PTA, very few participate in Halloween. There are so few houses with their lights on, "the element" knows there are more productive neighborhoods. I only saw one pickup pull into the neighborhood with a bunch of kids in the back. They slowed down, some instructions were shouted in Spanish, and the kids were off and running.
