The Consensus Preseason Top 3

- Westbrook and Durant are looking at missing 20 games, making it an almost insurmountable hurdle at this point.
- Tentative 1 - Lebron had a rough night, but even with better efficiency, it's plain there are more indians in the cupboard than he had in Miami. He'll still get his, but I think his days of averaging 30 are over barring injuries.

The Next Tier Down (In my order)

- Blake Griffin/Chris Paul
- Anthony Davis
- James Harden
- Steph Curry

Dark Horses

- John Wall
- Derrick Rose (Would be higher but he'll have minute limitations early)
- Demarcus Cousins
- Lillard/Aldridge

So, in other words, I think it's wide open.

Lebron is gonna win MVP unless he gets hurt.

Plain and simple.

I think Anthony Davis will have an MVP caliber season though.

I think the Clippers will be the best team in the league this year, so I could see Griffin or Paul getting it.

That's funny? Who other than the Spurs is even in the conversation?

I like the Clippers a lot, but I think CP and Blake will cancel one another's votes a good bit in terms of voting.

I also expect his numbers to dip a bit from last year and go back closer to his career numbers.

San Antonio and OKC (with Durant and Westbrook) are head and shoulders above LAC.

I could definitely see Paul getting a lifetime achievement award if the Clippers have the best record in the West.

Head and shoulders? The Clippers should've beaten OKC in the playoffs last year.

Should've? They lost. How about this, they should've lost to the Warriors in the first round.

The hype train was already running full steam. That first game didn't hurt. If the Pelicans finish top 5 in the West, he's going to get considerable MVP attention. Obviously, that's a size-able hurdle.

We'll see where the money lies in Vegas next time the player props are released on Bovada. LBJ might even rise to worse odds with the recent injuries. It doesn't take much brain power to have watched the Cleveland game last night and come away with the impression that Lebron's usage will go down.

ETA: All the Davis hate is dull. #3 ranking on #NBArank. Considered a leader of the Team USA squad in Spain. Came off a 20/10/3 ish season with a 26 PER last year as a sophomore?

They lost, yes. It wouldn't be the first time a team that should have won a series ended up losing it.

Regardless, that hardly makes the Thunder head and shoulders better than OKC.

Lebron hasn't averaged over 27ppg since he was in Cleveland.

At this point (tons of data to go off of) I'd say Lebron, CP3 and Davis are the favorites.

I see it as a 4 way race, in this order:

Lebron
CP3
AD
Blake

Blake and CP3 do cancel each other out a bit, but CP3 could get the aforementioned "Kobe Lifetime Achievement MVP" if the Clipshow is in 1st in the West.

Lebron will get his and needs to play better than last night for sure. He'll get there.

AD has to keep playing like crazy and the Pels have to win. Tall order but he's getting a LOT of hype right now.

You said San Antonio and OKC are head and shoulders better than the Clippers. Now you're agreeing that they're not?
