Who was the last good country artist to come out, other than Sturgill? Waylon?

Jamey Johnson is probably the most recent non bro-country artist to come out but he never got the recognition he deserved because he didn't want to conform to Nashville.

1 million up votes. Have this pic on the wall in my office. Need more like him, Waylon and Wille.

Actually the last good country artist was Allen Jackson. Cash is just the fricking greatest ever. Banging out hits for five decades. Hurt may be the greatest final single in the history of music. Especially considering his age. He didn't write it, but damn it...he OWNS it.

And as much as I like young cash. I think his greatest work was later in life. That mf'er got dark. Reflecting on his past and his frick ups. When he sang about shite, he lived it and makes you feel it.

Except Garth

Garth Brooks singlehandedly killed traditional country music. He's to blame for mainstream, crappy, country music.

Just what about either of those two do you think is terrible? You either are trolling or have no idea about country music. Both are great singers and represent the classic molds of country music. They don't rely on flashy clothes, boy band type lyrics, and loud backup music to cover inferior voices. They also don't subscribe to the need to have fancy "theatrics" to make their concerts entertaining.

You guys keep pointing out the likes of Waylon Jennings and Johnny Cash. They were the outlaws of country along with the likes of Jerry Lee Lewis. Great artists in their own right, but not the only definition of pure country artists. George Strait and Alan Jackson's music is more in the mold of the George Jones, Don Williams, and Roger Miller types.

Funny how they sang the song years ago that discusses this crap. All they needed to do was name Brooks, for his rope swinging, flashy lights concerts that kicked off all this shite that they call country today.
