what a story...

quote:
“Three years ago, to the day, Florida Georgia Line opened up for us in Jacksonville, FL with their same brand of bro country that is all over the radio today,” the band posted on their Facebook page.
“They now have millions of fans, tons of money and all the cut off bedazzled denim vests anyone could ask for. At least we still have our self respect. Here’s to the working bands out there that never settle. Good on ya.”
quote:
I’m also…
-Sad that this is what “country” music has been reduced to. One of the greatest American art forms has been reduced to garbage. No attention to detail. No honesty. No soul.
-Angry that when I tell people that I play country music and this is the first thing that comes to their mind. Angry that America has accepted this. Angry that these “songwriters” do it for the dollar, instead of the integrity.
-Afraid that its only going to get worse. If fans of country music keep letting the powers that be lower your standards, IT WILL become more and more laughable. As long as they know that you will buy it, they will keep dumbing you down. Scares the shite out of me.
quote:
"...Every band wants to live the dream. But I want my fame to come from earning people’s respect, not it being handed to me. I want to bust my arse every single day and know that I earned it. I want to play music with my best friends, not some band that my label put together for me. I want to write my own songs. I want to sing my own songs. I want to know that 6 guys stood in a room with microphones and performed every single note you hear, together…as a band. A real band.

At least we still have our self respect
quote:So much integrity in their terrible music. Dude is genuinely trying to act high and mighty when he's clearly jealous. FGL were nobodies, now they're big; AA were nobodies, still are. They're acting like they're still nobodies because they took the high road. In reality, they just aren't worth listening to (not that FGL is).

That video under the article... Dear god

Jesus fricking Christ. I just looked up the video "This is how we roll" because Im not really familiar with their songs. Ive heard the name before but not any of their music. What in the blue frick is wrong with this country? I realize we are a country of collective idiots, but it's sad that the majority of us are spoonfed bullshite and simply take it and ask for another with a smile. Im so disappointed. If you like this song, or even find it tolerable, chances are I hate you.

He admitted that he was jealous. Of course he is. Who wouldn't be?

the funny thing is, a lot of the same was being said about modern country music when Garth Brooks and that generation were on the radio... maybe not the "bro" part.. but it was pop country and lost it's soul...
in the 80s too
in the 80s too

Someone who's made music to be proud of.

I can't tell the difference between the two

The funny thing is it's all country music
He's trying to act holier than thou because their country music is better than this groups country music
Well jokes on all of you, you make country music, and it all sucks

I think BJ's a great writer. Obviously you've never listened to the lyrics of "St. Mary's"...his voice isn't for everyone but you can't deny the fact that he's a talented songwriter. I mean, I guess you can, because your sole purpose on this board is to shite on everything that is not your cup of tea. I'm referring more to the royal "you".
FGL DOES suck, and while he might be jealous of their "success" (he even admitted in a later post that he was), I assure you he's not jealous of the quality of music that those guys are putting out.
And AA is selling out shows, too. They're doing just fine and they're doing it on their terms.

What those two bands is doing are apple and oranges... one is entertainment and one is music, IMO... Can't get into AA, but have nothing against them..

AA is in europe selling out literally every show they are playing right now...
they also do very well for an independent band in the states.
You're missing the whole point on all of this, but I guess that's to be expected because you want to troll people. I get it.

quote:Totally, hence the only threads I've started have been encouraging people to post albums so that we can all listen to something out of our comfort zones and a dozen+ page thread sharing links to the music I love.

their music has substance. even if you don't like their music, you can admit that.

quote:You're right. I meant compared to FGL. AA is no country music mainstay, correct?
