I get that, just trying to provide some context. LF definitely has the opportunity to crack 1000 yards. He could reach 1100 but I don't see that happening unless we somehow get a 14th game.

Loved Hillard that guy was so damn shifty.

I was selling peanuts in TS when he was there. It was awesome watching him run so low and change directions without losing a step. Of course he was short and not very fast but still.

Saw him by the tiger cage one day...biggest legs I had ever seen.

Sure, LF might break that record. Does that mean his season is more impressive? I say no, even though it is pretty impressive on its own.

Two JV game MVP's agree with you.

Was that including the SECCG and BCSNCS?

Justin absolutely exploded in those games.

Not a official season record but Cecil Collins put 596yds in four games in which he only played 13 quarters of football.

You also have to consider that Vincent played on a balanced offense, whereas 2014 LSU is anything but balanced. We have the second most rushing attempts in the country after Navy, and although we've played more games than most teams, the point still stands. Fournette is running against loaded fronts, and the line didn't really hit its stride until Auburn.

Mauck threw for nearly 3000 yards and 28 TDs, so defenses really had to respect the passing game. I also think the 2014 SECW is more difficult than the 2003 SECW.

The one thing that really stood out about JV's season that we haven't seen from Fournette is the big play ability. Vincent busted huge runs against the best teams we played that season and had a great YPC all year.

JV also had 14 games to get his yardage. So LF will have to do it in 13 games.

Doesn't matter. He could realistically finish the season averaging 100 ypg. He has a 97 yard average over the last 3 games. That 100 ypg will put him at 1057, add in receiving yards, and you could possibly hit 1300 yards from scrimmage.

I don't understand what people are talking about. Since they had different amount of games, just use carries. While Dalton did only play in 11 games, he had 193 carries. Add in his 183 rush yards and 36 carries for the bowl game, and you get 1084 yards on 229 carries. Faulk had 173 in 10 games, but the bowl game puts him at 198 and yardage at 1086 . Vincent was a beast as he did his 1000 in only 154 carries.

Unless Fournette goes off his last 4 games in receiving and rushing, he will just only equal what they did. I'd have to give the nod to Dalton though, when you add in bowl games. His stats from scrimmage as a freshman with the bowl game, would have rivaled Gurley's.

Somewhat unrelated but interesting nonetheless, Charles Scott gained 889 rushing yards through the first 8 games in 2008.

11 game regular season. Hard to know if Hilliard appeared in or carried the ball in all 11 games, though, because LSU's website doesn't keep game stats that far back.

Hopefully Fournette's freshman year doesn't end up being his best.

Fournette doesn't hsve a passing offense that threw for 3,200 yards. As we have found our identity during this winning streak, we have averaged 15 passing attempts per game, and at the same time, Fournette has averaged 22+ carries per game.

So with a weaker, less balanced offense, and a weaker, less balanced defense, Fournette is producing at a higher level, along withy becoming a factor in the passing game and special teams.

Anyone who can't see that this 18 year old is the biggest impact player this offense has ever seen and that no Freshman has ever been depended upon the same way LF7 has-with the lone exception of Kevin Faulk-are totally dreaming.

Leonard Fournette is a absolute BEAST.

Would need 345 for the outright record - 4 games remaining (in all likelihood) - so he would only have to average 86 1/4 - definitely doable.

ETA: If he needs 1002 in the regular season - tougher - he would have to average 115 even, per game - that seems unlikely based on the RB by committee.
