I don't know all the specifics with the new salary cap/ tv deal, but I understand that teams will have more money to work with. If Gordon opts out + the new cap space, is there a way that we could take advantage of the loads of talent coming up in free agency?

Haha my roommate and I were just talking about that. Gotta think there will be palpable tension when KD comes back if Russell Westbrook consistently plays at a level like tonight.

Why would there be tension?

well we are basically gonna take EG's contract and use it on AD, which still wont be as much as AD's gonna earn.
I dont know the specifics, but its not like we are just gonna go out and get somebody thats worth as much as EG's contract.
And keep in mind that we might wanna sign Asik to a deal.

Time will tell boys

They've historically struggled with who gets the ball in crunch time situations. With KD becoming unrestricted in 2016, I don't think its that wild to picture him doing a sign and trade or requesting a trade (probably to his hometown DC). If Westbrook gets used to being the man in okc, who knows how or if they mesh together going forward. Not to mention they've gotta be getting tired of being almost good enough as presently constructed.

Just going to assume Butler and Leonard wont be available. I'd assume we wont break the bank on a SF but guys I'd like to have

Khris Middleton
Jae Crowder
Draymond Green (First choice)
Iman Shumpert

If he has a good year he could. With his injury history he'd actually be smart to take a 4 or 5 year deal for 35 mil than one for 13 or whatever and risk injury in a contract year.

We've gone from:

if Gordon is included in the trade, to

If Dell matches Gordon's offer, to

If Gordon stays healthy, to

If Gordon opts out....

What an all around disaster this guy has been. I want him gone, just because

But what if he gone, what can we trade for him again?

That's exactly what it's like. Before the TV deal the cap was projected to increase to about $67 million. Give Asik $12 million, renounce your rights to the scrubs (including Rivers) and you are at $67 million, so if Gordon opts out you do get nearly every penny of his $15 million to use on free agents. If the cap gets smoothed to $75 million like some in some predictions, you're up to $23 million in cap space if Gordon opts out.

You had been being so positive. Some things aren't meant to last I guess

Cap smoothing will be a big factor in the equation. If they smooth the cap and every team gets an extra $12 million to play with, salaries will be inflated enough that he'd be a fool to not opt out if he has a good year. Demps not picking up Rivers option could just be Demps pinching pennies and not paying for a guy he either doesn't want or thinks he can get cheaper, or it can be that he thinks the odds are high that either Gordon is gone or the cap increases or, since one is related to the other, both. Even if we're stuck with Gordon, cap smoothing and dumping Rivers gives us about $8 million in cap space. Hopefully that'd be enough to steal a guy like Danny Green.

Anthony Davis will be close enough to best player in the league in a few years to attract major free agents. KD? Hell, you never know.

eh could Lebron atrract major free agents to CLE when he was clearly the best player in the world? NO he couldn't. Not sure why you'd assume that Davis could. Major free agents are gonna be able to make a lot more money in major cities.

Different atmosphere in the league now. Completely different.

That being said we aren't going to get the KD's of the world, but if Davis is that good we can get good Free Agents.
