for this game i have a feeling they are going to use more zone read and more of rolling AJ out.

also as a request i'd like to see neighbors make landon collins forget what day it is.

This is where you're wrong. Do you see teams manning up on our receivers and stacking the box? Nope.
Precisely. Whether opponents "respect" LSU's passing game is irrelevant.

What matters is how opponents react to LSU's offense. Ole Miss did not stack the box; thus, LSU did not have to force the issue through the air.

IF Bama stacks the box or schemes to stop the run, then LSU will HAVE to call more pass plays and execute those plays.

However, if Bama does not stack the box or scheme to stop the run, LSU does not have to have a "balanced" attack.

If an oppoent does not stack the box or scheme to stop the run, LSU can run 12 running plays in a row for over 90 yards against the best defense in the SEC and be effective.

Teams are pkaying LSU honestly because they're very respectful of Dural, Malachi and Quinn.
Exactly. Opponents are hesitant to stack the box against LSU because LSU has multiple WRs who can score six points on just one completion.

That's why Jennings does not have to have a high completion percentage to be effective in keeping extra players out of the box. Jennings and WR corps present enough of a deep threat to keep extra players out of the box.

If the LSU deep threat keeps extra players out of the box, LSU can run the ball decisively.

All this talk about how LSU wore down OM on defense is irrelevant to the argument about how LSU won that game. LSU ran the ball AT WILL from the beginning of the game. It wasn't until the second half before they slowed the run game down.

WE DID NOT BEAT OM BY WEARING DOWN THEIR DEFENSE!

I don't think he's just going to come out and say we are going to use the exact same gameplan we used against ole miss to beat Bama. But I don't expect it to change that much.

Not the same. JJ never really felt comfortable in the pocket. Jennings primarily tries to stay in the pocket and has already shown more of a pocket presence than Jefferson. He doesn't get too rattled by blitzes or contains and is solid at getting rid of the ball before the sack. If anything Jennings needs to scramble a few more times per game.

What????
dumbest thing I've ever read on the rant, and that is saying something!
I'm not even reading the rest of this thread.

We have watched. When Jennings drops back as soon as his 1st reciever is covered, he panics. he is not sure what to do, run, throw it away. If he could fix this he would be servicable.

you really wanna tell me hes not going through his progressions here? that he doesnt look left and then over the middle

at which point he makes a throw that still hits Quinn in the hands even though hes getting tackled by the DB right in front of the ref who somehow didnt call it

for us to be effective, WE MUST implement some short/quick passing plays i.e. screens, slants

Alabama will test us with the same game plan as in the NC game...
they will rush fiercely and prevent Jennings from having enough time to throw deep.
If we complete some short passes, they will have to back up some, if not, it will an all out rushing campaign.

I think you may be stretching it here a little. He briefly looks left and pulls the trigger.

if it were up to him, im sure he'd love to have more than 3 seconds to throw the ball. "briefly" is all the time he had.

actually, you are correct. He specially committed to his decisions very early in the last game.
There was once when he stared at his receivers to his left, threw into double coverage while another receiver was wide open in the middle.

He appears to see the field better when he rolls right...having said this, it may also be that the coaching staff has beaten into him to NOT THROW INTO THE MIDDLE, so why look there.

Everyone said we wouldn't be able to run the ball against Ole Miss, and now they're saying the same thing about Alabama. It's just a lazy, easy opinion to state.

Alabama's secondary is not that good. If try to sell out against the run, we'll be able to burn them for it. If they don't sell out against the run, we'll grind them down just like we did against Ole Miss, and we'll probably still a bit more success throwing than we did against Ole Miss anyway.

The real question in my mind is how will OUR defense handle Alabama's run game. They won't be the best rushing attack we've faced by any means. Auburn, Mississippi State, and Wisconsin were all far better, but they are better than Ole Miss.

Always amazingly funny stuff on here.

We lost in 12 because the "Prevent Defense" dialed up by Chavis couldn't keep them from driving the length of the field in the final two minutes of the game and scoring.

Defense was effective putting pressure on McCarron the entire game, so lets change it on that final drive and let them score.

No we really aren't balanced enough, but it's doesn't matter if we can be effective running the ball.

It always matters against good teams. If we don't have more balance against bama, we will lose. We will run run run to start that game. If they need to stack that box, which I don't think they will have to, we will not be able to run against them like we did against OM. It WILL come down to us needing to get first downs through the air against one on one coverage in some cases, and I just don't like those odds with the lack of timing on even the easier throws by AJ.

The only way we win this game is if we develop balance and get much better throwing the ball between now and next Saturday. You can take that to the bank!

You're apparently of the opinion this 'Bama team is of the same ilk defensively as 2009 through 2012 and they are not. They will have to stack the box to slow LSU down and if the Tigers execute their plays efficiently, even that will not stop LSU's running game. I've seen a lot of great OL play these last five decades and the Tiger OL, right now, is clicking as well as any I've seen there. Imagine if this team had just an average passing attack. They would be unstoppable. 'Bama will sell out to stop the ground game even though Saban is loathe to do so. I do agree that the Tigers will have to hit some timely passes but they will not have to forego the primary scheme of running the ball, IMHO.

5 DECADES?????

WOW... This o-line is paying well but to say they are better than any in the last 5 DECADES???? WOW.

WHOA............ This is NOT the 2001,2006 or 2007 offense we are taking about.... You make it sound like Bama will roll over and die before the game starts... LSU can and should win this game, but come on man, Bama WILL come to play and it won't be easy.........
