you'd see how close he is to being a very good QB.

C'mon. That is such a stretch. He might be close to being serviceable. The lowest ranked QB in the SEC cannot be close to being very good.

Miles said last week that we needed better balance to beat Bama.

I do think we have a chance though. Since Les and Saban have been going head to head niether one has won by more than 4 in Death Valley. Hope it's a great game.

Yea gotta agree......to this point......I've seen nothing from AJ that would lead me to believe that he will ever be more than just a game manager. He could explode one game but we generally don't throw enough for that to happen.

Gonna have to complete a few more passes....bottom line.... and not just the bombs.

no bombs were completed vs. Ole Miss and only 1 vs. Kentucky. I'd say we're going to have to complete a bomb or two vs. Bama

YOU ARE NOT WEARING DOWN the Bama D like you did Ole Miss

I don't think LSU wore down Ole Miss at all. LSU had 71 total offensive plays with 38 coming on the first 4 drives and only 1 drive over 4 plays the entire second half. Ole Miss had 68 total offensive plays . LSU just dominated the line of scrimmage and opened up some nice holes. If they can play with the same intensity, minimize turnovers and shut down Cooper...they can win.

Mastr...not sure why you're so high on this guy. He's a good kid but he's 3/4 thru the season and still looks like he could go full retard anytime he drops back to pass...which scares the schit out of me just a little.
I'll always pull for him cuz hes our guy....I'm just not pinning ALL my hopes on him to deliver every game.

for one bc I realize this is not all on Jennings. hes got 3 freshman WRs and 1 sophomore. I know he knows the offense but they're almost definitely running the routes wrong at times simply bc they're young.

this throw to Dupre for example, he cant let the corner drive him to the sideline like that, he has to give himself more space to land. his hands go to the left to catch the ball, thats where his body should be. next time he'll probably score on this, he just has to learn.

His receivers are young but that Doesn't explain away HIS inconsistencies.

Teams don't really respect us through the air yet

This is where you're wrong. Do you see teams manning up on our receivers and stacking the box? Nope. You'll read plenty of posters who think that's happening, but it's not most of the time. Teams are pkaying LSU honestly because they're very respectful of Dural, Malachi and Quinn.

Watch the D when LSU is in a two wide set. They will keep two safeties back, and sometimes send one at the snap.

dont get me wrong, im not saying hes the next andrew luck, or even the most talented QB on our roster, but his numbers don't tell the story at all.

yes, he's inconsistent, he's a true sophomore who didn't play last year, consistency only comes with reps, but his life would be much easier with some experienced WRs. i think we can agree that same throw to Beckham or Landry ends in a TD.

Even though we're not throwing many passes, we're throwing with enough variety now that teams can't afford to cheat.

the two teams they've played that most closely resemble LSU are Ole Miss and Ark; they lost one and won the other 14-13.
Very interesting observation.

Not the same. JJ never really felt comfortable in the pocket. Jennings primarily tries to stay in the pocket and has already shown more of a pocket presence than Jefferson. He doesn't get too rattled by blitzes or contains and is solid at getting rid of the ball before the sack. If anything Jennings needs to scramble a few more times per game.

Whoa. Jennings is not confrontable in the pocket. He even stated this along with the statement he throws better on a rollout.

Jennings has been sacked 13 times this year.

If Bama is aggressive with its pass rush, keep containment, and collapses the pocket, it will be tough.

The counter to this is three fold:

- Can Bama's DBs play good enough to contain the WRs, either man-to-man or smart zone?
- Can Jennings make the various reads in time to find the open player...especially in the intermediate routes?
- Can LSU scheme enough to simplify the reads to make Jennings success rate improve just a bit?

I think the big question is can our def keep bama to field goals in the red zone to keep it close?

"We lost in '12 because we got fancy."

Agreed, BUT we also threw the ball effectively. I hope the coaches find one matchup, whether a TE on a LB, a back out of the backfield, whatever, that they think AJ recognize and exploit. We are going to have to make some plays in the passing game to have a chance to win.
