1. Lynyrd Skynyrd
2. Allman Brothers Band (musically superior but I prefer Skynyrd's overall body of work)
3. ZZ Top
4. Blackfoot
5. The Outlaws
6. .38 Special
7. Marshall Tucker Band
8. Molly Hatchet Band
9. Charlie Daniels Band

I knew that ranking Lynyrd Skynyrd ahead of ABB would ruffle some feathers.

As much as I love Brothers and Sisters and Eat a Peach, I just think that Skynyrd's albums were more consistent and accessible.

Do live performances count for anything? The ABB '69-'71 were probably the best live outfit that ever walked the Earth.

Youve gotta be trolling. Every single thread you start is aimed at drawing the redneck bubbas out of the woodwork

Every single one of these bands besides ABB is awful

Of course. Studio and live performances should both be considered.

One thing that's so great about southern rock is that most bands released kickass live albums.
