Do you find yourself accidentally looking down on those people?

TIA

I am going to say no, although, it is when the bell ringer sits down to smoke and barely rings the bell.

Yep.

So apparently he has a problem with a typically retired person, volunteering his time to collect money for the Salvation Army-one of the best charities out there.

I consider him pretending to look down trashy. As well as the fact that he's looking down on a volunteer as he's entering Wal Mart.

Ringing the bell in front of Wal Mart: Trashy

Ringing the bell in front of another establishment: Also Trashy

while everything lives on the scale of trashiness, this is closer to a 1 than a 10.

The problem with the bell ringers is that there is no accountability. They could pocket half that money and no one would ever know. That's why I don't give them anything. I make a contribution to St. Judes every year and decline from contributing to any other charity or fundraiser.

You do realize that the people that do this are volunteering their time to raise money?

Some are volunteers. Some are minimum wage workers.
