Yep, tomorrow I'm taking that long lonely drive into sketchville and I'm finally going to check out Maurepas Foods for the first time.

Any "must trys"? I heard the cocktails are excellent. Would love some food recs.

Thought they had a rotating menu?

The menu rotates.

The chicken leg quarter is great.

Always get dessert.

Was thinking the same. Might drag the wife that way Saturday if the Tulane game doesn't do me in Friday night.

Yup. Lemme find the post.

ETA: LINK

That is another posters view of it. I chimed in a little later to add a few simple comments. Overall, would go again. Could have ordered better on small plates, probably. Great spot to grab a drink at the very least. If they have small plates as good as the entree we split, it's an absolute homerun.

Crispy goat tacos FTMFW!!

I like Maurepas, but it gets more praise than it deserves. IMO

Its gone down in quality over the past year, but still a very good place. Cocktails are very good. Goat taco and chicken thighs are a menu constant and both are great. Rest of the menu changes daily. They usually do a very good job with unusual presentations of seasonal vegetables.
In the Bywater, their star has been eclipsed by both The Franklin and Mariza.

Maurepas has gone WAY downhill. I went a couple of years ago and their small plates were of good value.

Now that they are a popular mess amongst all hipsters, they have cut their portions in half. I remember the last time I went spending 60 bucks and both of us were still hungry. Place is overrated.

You should go to Bud Ripp's for pre-drinks. It's one of my favorite bars in the city.

eta..I've enjoyed the leg quarter there several times.

I basically agree with this, but it was always a hipster focused place. It was really good the first couple of times I went, though, and slipped the last two times I was there.

I have a hard time going anywhere but Mariza if I'm in the Bywater, but Franklin was pretty good too.

Maurepas has always been hit or miss for me. Terribly inconsistent. Same goes for fellow hipster magnet Suis Generis right across the street.

Should have ordered the goat tacos.

Safest/best thing on the menu.

Sorry to hear it continues to struggle.

I've only been for brunch. I would not go back for brunch. And brunch was so blah that I haven't wanted to go for dinner.
