First time tailgating

First year student here going to my first game today. What are some things I should know? I'm going by myself since none of my friends have tickets but I hear it's pretty easy to just walk around and drink with people. Where do most of the students tailgate so I can find a crowd my age (21)?

You're definitely going to want a wing man of sorts. People are going to think you are creepy if you are alone just walking up to random tailgates.

Lol I thought so but I think people will see I'm a pretty normal guy. I look normal act normal and like to drink whiskey, smoke pot, and smash hoes just like the rest of you. I don't have many options as my roommate isn't going and all my friends that I've asked are working

Your friends can still tailgate even if they don't have tickets.
Are you going to walk around with your own alcohol. I don't think a lot of tailgates want some random dude drinking and eating all their stuff.

yeah no one is going to be like OMG THAT GUY IS BY HIMSELF COME DRINK WITH US. but if you see someone that has like a tv start watching and start a conversation. I guarantee you will get food and alcohol

Well yeah I'm bringing my own drinks, just looking for a crowd to hang out with. I pictured LSU tailgating to be like a big party on the parade grounds where students just hang out with other students.

Oh, you'll find that somewhere then. Look beyond the parade ground too. There are a lot of people near Lockett and the stadium, for example

You must not tailgate much. We always invite people over and can't count the number of times I've been by myself and been invited to tailgate.

I find it hard to believe a freshman student hasn't made a single friend to tailgate with in almost 2 months of school.

In any event I was in overflow West Lavelle so there was a pocket of non weirdos there.
Those lobby rats were the worst though
