Did I miss something? 3 pages and not one mention of The Following? Bacon in a landslide.

Yea Bacon was also in A Few Good Men, his "B list" movies are the equivalent of what Goodman has done, I'm no more a fan of one of them than the other, but Bacons resume is a monster.

Must admit a very surprising Bacon v Goodman. kudos to the OP.

And I really can't decide.
So I will break from the rest and go with a tie.

Thank You!

These are 2 of my favorite supporting actors. Both need to try and take on an Oscar bait role. They would at least get nominated. I like Bacon more but it's close.

Is the conversation only limited to the big screen. If not then we need to discuss Goodmans multiple Emmy and Golden Globe awards nominations for outstanding actor. He even won one of those Golden Globes. He's also won a ton of the smaller awards for TV acting during the time frame. There was some real talent that came out from Roseanne.

Also his voice work for Jungle Book and the Monsters inc series as well.

Goodman is a great guy, I generally like him in everything. Bacon is a great actor as well, but is a prick in most of his roles, while Goodman is like that old dude at the bar you love talking to.

Goodman has zero range. Bacon plays one of the best villains ever.

you also left out Hollow Man, Wild Things, Appolo 13, The Air Up There, and Tremors

Personally love both.

Bacon is the answer though. It's Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon for a reason. Dude has been in everything because the dude can play anything.

Really, you come on man.

Goodman - Coen Brothers (great in all)
Raising Arizona
Barton Fink
Hudsucker Proxy
Big Lebowski (movie why he is a favorite on this board)
O Brother, Where Art Thou?
Inside Llewyn Davis

And yes, Goodman has done other great work too.

DeNiro - (non Scorcese)
Bang the Drum Slowly
The Deer Hunter
True Confessions
Once Upon a Time in America
Falling in Love
Brazil
The Mission
Angel Heart
The Untouchables
Midnight Run
Jacknife
Awakenings
Backdraft
Mad Dog and Glory
This Boy's Life
A Bronx Tale
Heat
Sleepers
Marvin's Room
Copland
Wag the Dog
Jackie Brown
Ronin
Meet the Parents
The Good Shepherd
Machete
Silver Linings Playbook

I think Bob can stand on his work even without Martin. And we all know his EPIC work was with him. Damn, what a body of work.

Bacon for me based on variety and range. And as I've stated before, Bacon's role in The Woodsman puts him above Goodman. Both good actors with solid filmographies.

Time for John Wick now!

I guess I intimidated everyone by bringing up how huge and successful Goodman was a TV actor. Also his work in animated films. Has a lot of range.
