I was invited to go to the funeral but due to the extremely short notice there was no way I could make it on time.

And she knew this! Who made it short notice?.....wait for it...........HER

She knew when and how to ask so that you would most probably have to pass.

Tell her she's free to go but you are going to go ahead and meet your family for the trip because you feel bad about changing plans on your family so abruptly. Tell her she is more than welcome to meet y'all after the funeral. See how she reacts.

I actually thought about this. Glad I did not do it now.

If you break now and act pissed on the phone, all the being ok with it will be for naught. Only way to salvage is to act cool and supportive as shite. She will bang you when she first gets the chance. Unless she decides to cancel her plans with you altogether or lingers around the ex for too long after the funeral. Then drop her arse. But if you are cool and she hurries to get back to you, you look like a boss and she is under the impression you trust her.

Go to the funeral with her so y'all can travel together to meet up with your family afterwards.

If she isn't ok with that...that's a bad sign.

But I did expect many comments like this.

Because you KNOW the truth and for some reason want to not acknowledge that you are shitting on yourself as we speak for being such a beta bitch.

That's why you expected this kind of reply.

The funeral wouldn't bother me. It's the fact that she's been in contact with this ex prior to the funeral. And I would assume it's more than she's telling him. That in itself is inappropriate and it would be troubling to me that she doesn't think so.

Honestly, I wouldnt listen to these people saying you have trust issues. EVERYONE has issues with trust, and they are lying if they say they dont.

In this case, if she has sent flowers and even talked to the mother already, I dont see why she needs to go to the funeral. Maybe you even trust her, but there is that thought in the back of your head why? What is the reason to go if the guy is out of your life?

Unless she was really close to the grandparent, then i see no reason for her to go, especially if she is fricking up your plans

Exactly. If roles are reversed, even if family's are close, you send flowers maybe go to wake then keep your plans. The canceling of plans that were obviously already set is the biggest red flag. You add that with previous contact and the ex's mom stopping by you've got a recipe for disaster.

People talking about insecurity probably haven't seen this shite go down before.

I did the whole "Hey, you should meet up with that guy, he seems cool enough."

Guy was a coworker of her dad (older than us but not the dad's age)

Anywho, within 8 weeks of my statement they were engaged There's lots of little things that "SHOULD" be OK in society, but in reality are little signs that something is going on. Usually, even if your brain is saying nothing is happening, but your body says it is, watch out.
