I was just reading about this place on Eater, and I became intrigued. I pass this bar frequently, and I wasn't aware that it was open. I just assumed the property owner kept the sign up because it's amazing.

I'm a fan of dive bars, and this may be a nice place for me to catch a drink and shoot the shite with the locals.

I've been told to avoid the Big Boy Lounge up the street at all cost. I'm pissed b/c the bbq setup outside seems like a good time. My loved ones just want me to return home.

Glad you brought this up. Pass by it all the time. Never knew it was open for business. I feel if I brought my friends it would turn into a scene from Animal House

Can we dance with yo dates?

Never been but it always seems like the real party is going on on the neutral ground.

Sign was restored for the movie "Ray". It's a cool sign, though. Never been to the place.

I've gotten food from the guy who cooks out front before at 1 am. You can assume alcohol was present in my system.

It's pretty safe in there, I think. They dont let anyone under 30 in or something.

I've always loved how bars in the hood all set their own crazy drinking ages.

I've actually been there during Mardi Gras. It isn't bad at all.

Did you go when it was Verret's or before when it was Turning Point? I hear now it's rather gentrified
