No chane of it with the current UM athletic administration in place. If DB is canned and a coaching change is made, then the chances increase somewhat. I do think Miles would head to UM if the "climate" within the administration is right for him. Just dont think it will be 100% to his liking to make the move. But make no mistake about it, had things been different in the administration towards Miles, he would have walked if they offered in 2007. His love for UM and Bo is as great as any of ours is for LSU. Dont ever forget what UM and Bo mean to him and his current place in life. Just has to be the right situation and he will go.

Les will leave LSU when he retires or has two losing seasons in a row.

agreed.

the soonest for # 1 is anyone's guess, most likely another 4 years

the soonest for #2 is at least 4 years from now, as the 2015 and 2016 seasons and talent are set up a lot better than this years. We'll be back to DLINE U with DBU concurrent.

That means Les likely sails through 2020 or so and leaves on one of the 2 conditions, more likely #1.

And by staying put, within 4-5 years he could retire as the ALL time winning coach at LSU. Let that sink in for the nega-tigers. During the era of the most competitive college football ever, in the toughest division of the toughest conference this game has seen, he is accomplishing that.

So, how would Michigan afford to pay Miles a salary comparable to Saban's?

Probably because it has the largest endowment of Div 1A football schools for an individual campus (except Stanford)
Endowment

And revenue is pretty great too.

Regarding athletic/coach salaries, revenue is much, much more relevant than endowment.

From only a personal perspective, because I am and always have been a huge Les Miles fan, I sincerely hope that if he gets an offer from Michigan, he takes it. This will be his last opportunity to coach and potentially resurrect his Alma Mater. Although the LSU program will probably be set back because of this decision, I would be extremely happy for him. My educated guess is that 30% to 35% of the LSU fan base appreciates the accomplishments of Les Miles so I agree with Jalen Rose. His loyalty to this university and the Baton Rouge community has been exemplary and I'll always be grateful for the time he coached here. If it came to pass, I would have a 2nd team to pull for in College Football.

Do you have any idea how rich the alumni base is?
Remember Michigan isn't like LSU where multi-generation alumni are rare.

Yeah dude, you're so right 10 win seasons, top 10 recruiting classes and national championship games suck. Not to mention it would be so much fun to watch us lose a 52-48 nail brighter. We might give up 600 yards but hell, we'll score 48 points and it'll be so exciting to watch!!!11!1

As much as I'd love to hear their answer, these f@gs are more than likely trolling... Gotta remember there's not much to do in Denham Springs

I don't think Les has the energy at his age that it takes to rebuild a program from scratch, build new recruiting relationships and pipelines, etc. Everything it takes is already established here. That's why I think he's done when it's time to leave LSU.

This is such a lame argument. Who believes that if we all of a sudden had a consistently productive offense then our defense would be terrible. I for one want both.

But would you dump the current coach who wins with a conservative offense for an unknown that might have more fireworks on offense with no guarantee that the defense will still be tough?

It always interesting talking to someone who wants Les gone. The only way to shut them up is to ask who they think is a realistic replacement.
