A very good movie with some outstanding acting. Also, I learned that the scene below was almost entirely unscripted and the dialogue improvised between Al Pacino and Charles Durning. A great tense scene right after Pacino's character discovered and stopped the cops from storming the back of the bank.

Great Acting

One of Pacino's best performances, really everyone in the movie is great.

I need to re-watch it. I don't remember exactly what happens, but I remember not liking the ending for some reason.

One of my top 25 movies ever, some tidbits.

True story.

Chris Sarandon played the transsexual. Leon.

John Cazale who played Sal only stared in one more ( Deer Hunter )movie before his untimely death at age 42. He played Fredo in the Godfarther 1&2.

The soundtrack had only 3 songs, the intro was Amoreena from the album Tumbleweed Connection by Elton John. Easy Livin performed by Uriah Hensley and Stay with me written by Rod Stewart but performed by Faces.

He'd been heavy into regional theater and done some television, mainly a recurring Soap actor, but this was his feature film debut and he was Oscar-nominated for Best Supporting Actor. Lost to George Burns for The Sunshine Boys.

He was in only five movies and all five were nominated for Best Picture.

Meryl Streep stayed with him through his illness until he passed away.
