I hate the litter problem. However the city of New Orleans doesn't do anything to help the situation. There should be trash cans on every corner in the high traffic areas. And they need to be emptied. Magazine St is a perfect example. Might have a trash can every six blocks, but most of the time they are overflowing with trash since they are never emptied.

Also the garbage trucks add to the problem. They spill shite all over the street while doing pick ups.

Get rid of poor and dumb people.

I only litter when I'm drunk.

Which is most of the time.

the last three litterers I saw were on I10. All were cars with Texas Plates. All three threw Popeye's Fried Chicken bags/boxes or cups from the vehicle onto the road. All three had one other common denominator between them.

bring a bag with you everytime you go outdoors and pick up a bag full of trash.

Teach your kids not to litter.

If you are trying to say that there is no littering in Mississippi I am calling bullshite. I lived there for 2 years and have family in the delta that I visti often. As soon as you get off the trace or the interstate it looks just like La.

Rex, first time I've ever agreed with you. Louisiana is nasty as frick, at least regarding the litter. If you've lived in another state, especially one in the Northwest, you'll know that littering is a huge taboo. I think in Washington if someone just threw a McDonald's bag out the window of the interstate, people would force a confrontation with the driver.

Littering is a class problem, which is why it's so prevalent in the deep south.

#littergram

Show people before and after pics of picking up trash somewhere, hopefully someone else does it. I've done it once

Getting some of the worst aspects of redneck influence out of the outdoorsman community would help. Not to say all rednecks litter, but there is something of a "frick the environment" attitude among immature southerners, even those who are in it for recreation a lot.

People who claim to love being out on the lake or river and then throw their natty cans on the bank should be fined into poverty (assuming they're above it now).

I agree. I was guilty of it occasionally when younger. Makes no sense.

Pass a law to allow folks to shoot out your tires when you litter.

Institute a 10 cent deposit on all bottles and cans, like Michigan. They've got some clean roads...

Most of us probably were to some extent. I don't remember littering a lot, but I do remember being so hateful toward the environmental community that I was almost anti-environment.

Not that I'm pro environmentalist now, but I am certainly pro conservation and I do wish people of my political persuasion would recognize that we can use it to our advantage.
