I don't know about the idiots here but that's the gist of it.

It's starting to sink in just how huge this project is in the scope of cinematic history.

I couldn't help but think about MOS while watching this. The things posters complained about (dark, serious, destruction) appear to be on display here as well.

drop the mic. you nailed the hypocrisy of a lot of posters on here. the similarities between AoU and MoS will be wildly overlooked. also Marvel.

What exactly was dispassionate about it? How does that trailer look any more passionate towards violence than MoS was?

is this the opening scene? spoiler maybe

quote:

>The Avengers have been dismantling HYDRA outposts across Europe.
>They are aided by the Iron Legion, an batallion of robotic drones created by Tony Stark.
>They raid Baron Strucker's base in Africa, filled with leftover Chitauri technology including a dead Leviathan, and fight the Twins, which are loyal to HYDRA either through brainwashing or manipulation.
>During the fight, the Scarlet Witch manipulates the Hulk into believing that the Leviathan is alive, forcing Stark to use to Hulkbuster to subdue him.
>Back in New York City, Stark decides to reactivate an old defense program, Project Ultron, creating an Artificial Intelligence modeled after his neural patterns to assess potential threats and coordinate the Iron Legion to intervene in order to reduce the Avengers' workload.
>Ultron goes through hundreds of data and assesses that the human race is inherently destructive and needs to be eliminated.
>Stark organizes a party at Avengers Tower with the city's power players in order to raise the Avengers' profile now that they're a privately funded team without government affiliations.
>Jane Foster has broken up with Thor and attends the ceremony with her new boyfriend.
>Black Widow and Bruce Banner are attracted to one another, but unwilling to act on these feelings.
>After the party, the Avengers, James Rhodes and Maria Hill hang out, and they take turns trying to lift Thor's hammer.
>Ultron downloads himself in a damaged Iron Man suit and crawls into the room, announcing the human race needs to die, before commandeering the Iron Legion to attack the Avengers.
>Plot ensues.

also the events of Ant Man will probably be happening at the same time as Avengers LINK

Last season Agents of Shield had its major arc around The Winter Soldier and the fallout still resonates into the current season.

Could they be doing the same with Age of Ultron? The movie comes out May 1st. The season finale of Agents of Shield is May 19th.

Actually ties in well and decent start point for why they're all there.

Also, awesome trailer. Spader is gonna rock it as menacing Ultron. Can't wait till the spring

I think what is being lost by the defenders of MOS is that Superman is a special category of superhero. He isn't a Punisher, a Batman, a Spawn, an anti-hero period. People who grew up knowing who the George Reeves or Christopher Reeves version of Superman was have a certain set of expectations for his behavior and his standards of morality that are superhuman because that is the essential nature of his character as they were introduced to it as children.

Bingo.

But it doesn't matter, the "hypocrisy" chants have already started.

We have no idea what the endgame of this film is, so those things are IMPOSSIBLE to discern right now.

That's fine. If you expect the Christopher Reeve Superman, you will be undoubtedly disappointed no matter what they do. He didn't say that, though.

I think what is being lost on people is that Superman has morphed and changed many times over the years.

Hell, at one time he had a mullet.

A frickING MULLET!!

Come on though, bro. That was a pretty dark trailer.

ETA: IT's so funny that you can't admit that.

I have no problem with changes being made to the character. I've already declared my fondness for the movie in this thread and said that I enjoyed the end product. But Superman is iconic, the most iconic superhero ever published. There are just a different set of expectations that come with that special type of fame and childhood love. The criticism of violence directed at the MOS film is entirely predictable, just as predictable as the criticism that would be aimed at a James Bond film featuring a celibate or monogamous James Bond.

I've said this before.

Just developing with the times. The violence in MoS was the least of it's problems.

Again, Marvel may have earned the darkness, regardless of what the trailers show, we have no idea how that plays out. I'm not going to say it succeeds or fails based off of a trailer.

We can say Man of Steel failed, we have a whole film to dissect. We have a trailer, of which of course they obscure the ending.

Let's revisit this in 9 months and then we'll talk about whether or not it was good. There's no need to get worked up over MoS comparisons now.

Who's the new female in the circle. Actress and role. I don't know much about the Avengers... but I've liked the movies and the standalones.

I have no doubt that it will be good. I have no doubt that it will be better than MoS. I also have no doubt that it will be darker than anything we've seen from Marvel.
