I bought tickets, $25 each for an adult at least, and I had to give them the name and birthday of each person going.

There's one at Lakefront Airport in New Orleans this weekend.

I was a first-hand witness to a fatal Thunderbirds team crash on May 9th, 1981 at Ogden, UT near Hill AFB. Not good. The pilot (Capt. David Hauck) reportedly stayed with the jet to avoid hitting houses.

Man, that's awful. I'm glad I've never witnessed anything like that.

IIRC, the Thunderbirds had several accidents resulting in a bunch of fatalities over a very short period of time in the early 80s. They suspended air show operations for a year or two as a result. They also transitioned from the T-38 to the F-16 during this period.

It sucked. And that was just from a spectator's standpoint. It was a weird feeling. I wasn't at Hill for the show, I'm sure that would have been even more awkward.

Never have seen one, was considering going to the one in Houston in a couple of weeks if for nothing else but to see the Blue Angels. Would love to go and get some good photos also.

One of the best times I had as a kid was the family roadtrip up to to Oshkosh WI. My dad was an airplane fanatic and we went to all the local ones to.

I've been in a bunch of airshows and attended many more, have seen several deaths either during pre-show practice or at the show, airshow tradition is usually remove the body from the wreckage and continue with the show

Went to the Barksdale Air Show in Bossier last spring. It was interesting even though that is not my thing. Pretty impressive hardware the US military has. That Raptor jet was mind boggling.

Go. Just remember to always, and I mean ALWAYS keep track of where Angels 5 and 6 are. Sure, Angels 1 through 4 are going to be up there doing all kinds of graceful acrobatics, but while you're busy watching that, 5 and 6 are going to be setting up for some high speed shenanigans and those are WAY more fun to me.

The precision formation flying they do is pretty fricking awesome, but then again, so is an aircraft screaming by at 600 knots 50 feet above the deck. The sound barrier and the sheer velocity of those planes become very real things in your head when you watch this plane that you know is extremely loud coming toward you, but you can't hear it because it's moving over 90% of the speed of sound. Your brain just doesn't want to process it the first time you see it.

Went a few years ago to Wings Over Houston. Got Eagle Squadron VIP seats. The show was awesome and the Eagle Squadron seats allowed me to get some good photos. They do have a non media photo pit.

Fond memories of airshows when I was a kid. Loved the F-14's and Blue Angels, also remember being amazed walking through a Lockheed C-5 Galaxy. Have not been in many years.
