Have any of you OTers owned both Tundra and F-150 before?

About to trade in my '11 GMC Sierra but can't decide between a Tundra Crewmax or F-150 (KR or Platinum). I'm looking at low mileage used and both seem to have great reviews, and I know people who own one or the other. I have a buddy who drives a Tundra and loves it and my dad drives a King Ranch and loves it.

Has anyone owned and/or driven both a Tundra and F-150 before, and if so, which do you prefer? TIA

How upside down do you stay on vehicles?

Both are great trucks. However, I like the design of the F-150 more.

Tundra is a better, more reliable truck....but if you only keep your trucks 3-5 years I see no reason why you shouldn't consider a Ford product.

I drive a Tundra ('06) and my business partner owns an F-150 ('14). I can't speak for the newer Tundras, but I like the older Tundra better. However, the new Ford is really nice. I don't think you can go wrong with either.

I've got a ton of equity in my truck - I bought used.

Had an '08 Tundra - very reliable, harsh ride...

Currently in '14 F-150 Lariat - better ride, better fuel mileage...too soon to comment on reliability...

That's what I'm finding -- except for the 1794s, Ford has an unparalleled interior, but Toyotas just last so freaking long.

My FIL still drives his '97 Tacoma with 250k miles and all he's done is change the oil and tires.

That may be.

FYI...buying used doesn't mean you have any equity in your truck and certainly doesn't mean you can't find yourself upside down.

I put a bunch down and have gotten quotes from a few dealerships.

I'm not putting a finger to the wind and guessing.

Only thing about the Tundras -- to me, at least -- is that aesthetically, they're either weird looking or the greatest looking truck ever.

I saw a white SR5 on a lot the other day that looked like an oversized VW Bug, and 4 hours later I saw one in my office parking lot that looked freaking awesome. It's like that episode of Seinfeld where Jerry's girlfriend looks pretty or ugly depending on the light she's in.

We had a thread about this very thing last week. In that thread, I mentioned that previous to my Tundra (which is an ’08 I bought new), I owned 3 F150’s in a row. I traded each of those trucks in after a couple of years due to rattling, transmission issues, electrical issues, whatever to get the latest and greatest F150. However, once I bought my Tundra, I decided to keep it until I drove it into the ground because I haven’t had any issues at all with it. It has been a fantastic truck and when I do need to get another one (or I just want a new one), it will definitely be a Tundra. I realize that I could have bought a Tundra and the same exact things that happened with the Ford would happen on the Tundra…but they haven’t.

I've owned both, F-150 was a much nicer/finished interior, but I rather the exterior of the Tundra. I feel like the F-150 is just bland looking now, and I don't think they went far enough with the 2015's.

The ride was comparable with similar tires, I recently got a more aggressive tire and the ride is noticeably worse.

No mechanical problems with the F-150 until 160k, then the throttle body sensor went out. Tundra has 90k and no issues to date. Now a days, I feel like it's a matter of taste more than mechanical issues.

Tundra is virtually a light 3/4 ton truck and the F150 is a 1/2 ton. If you pull or carry big loads the Tundra is better. If it's to carry stuff now and then but looking for economy the F150 is better. Tundra average driving 14 mpg. My 2013 F150 with the V6 Eco boost 18 mpg

Had a 2010 F150 and now have a 2013 Tundra. Tundra has more power and I really like it. No problems with the F150 either. I like some of the feautres on the F150 better but will take the power and resale value of the Tundra. Nice trucks either way you go.

The 2010 F150 was an antiquated motor

The current motors are on par with Toyota I think you would find.
