this is a crock of shite.

I would assume you are christian, my apologies if you are not, but you better be right to cause if islam is right you are frickED. Same is true for mormonism. Or hinduism. Or jainism. Hell, some christian sects and you are fricked.

Wouldn't that depend on how you define "living your life like there is no god"?

Does anyone have the link to the website that discusses this kind of thing (i.e. The Great Filter, Fermi Paradox, Drake Equation) that laid everything out in visual form?

I am of the belief that the universe is so big that we will never know. Unless they are close by within our galaxy I just don't see humanity lasting long enough to ever know for certain whether we are alone.

my favorite from Fermi is that they may exist, and they may be close by, but they may be too intelligent and we are too dumb to know.
THey compared it to an ant pile and an interstate. Does the ant colony know that the interstate is even there and what it's purpose is? Maybe we are the ant pile?

we will be traveling among the stars...if we don't kill ourselves. That is pretty much a certainty. Our whole existence seems to be the universe trying to understand itself and solving problems and pioneering new frontiers. If it can be thought up...it's possible. There is mind blowing work going on in physics and mechanics that were...for many years thought impossible.

Look up delayed choice quantum eraser...that'll frick your mind up.

Do we ever know it existed, if we never existed?

I took an Earth Science class in college, and the Astronomy part was so incredible. It kind of made me sad that we will never explore much past our own solar system.

In what way? Many people don't believe in God yet are still good, morally sound people. Why would anything else matter? Unless by "live like there is no god" means you frick people over or whatever, but that's possible with or without belief.

If a belief in a great punisher is the only thing keeping you from being a shithead, then please keep believing.

Kinda disappointing the video didn't zoom all the way into a house window to show some dude sitting at his computer, fapping to porn at the end.

You know, just to show how insignificant we all are.

That is interesting. I've read about spooky action at a distance but never thought about it in relation to time.

Imagine the perspective of Earth being as big as the last sphere shown before going back towards the Earth, and wrap your head around the idea that their may be intelligent life the size of the Earth in that new perspective.

In other words, their could be some form of intelligent life as relatively microscopic to us as we are to the universe. We always seem to look bigger, never smaller.
