What I want to know is what happens when people like me who only eat at McDonalds once during the entire contest and don't realize that they got the "rare" piece and throw it away?

I'm not very good at math, but I think that means you're about 20 times more likely to hit the Powerball than win McDonalds Monopoly and you don't have to eat at McDonalds to win the Powerball.
