Which scenario is more likely:

Gary Crowton and Cam Cameron both love the toss lead, or that both of those coordinators run what Les Miles wants?

My position on this couldn't be clearer. I don't love or hate our scheme. A scheme is a scheme. It's a means. Not an end. I don't want a sexy passing scheme just for the sake of it. An 11 yard run gets me just as charged as a 20yrd pass. They accomplish the same thing, though one does it a bit more deliberately.

If Les has a fricking run-first scheme that he wants the OC to run, the OC needs to figure out how to make the shite work. Our scheme is fine. It got us within one do-over game of the greatest season of the BCS era. Our execution, however, is shite. The starting QB and RBs can't hook up for a screen pass in the back field. Our backup QB doesn't even know the playbook. How is that on Les?

We have 2 losses against one of the stronger schedules in the country. The sky is clearly falling.

Good to know, Ms. Cleo.

Our passing game is horrible. That's a fact.

This is what blows my mind: Everyone agrees with that, but there's a lot of people who still insist that LSU should throw the ball even though the passing game is horrible.

It's baffling. "We're terrible at passing! We should pass more!"

I think it's pretty clear that they have pared down the offense to stuff the QBs know and that's how you end up looking predictable. As they get more comfortable, they'll open up the playbook, but the coaches need to put the QBs in a position to succeed. We really just need to work through the inexperience. We knew that going into this year. I'm not sure what some of these people were expecting.

Jennings is not going to get better.

Maybe Harris will

Jennings actually made a couple of completions over the middle to against UK. One of the passes was well behind TM18 and he had to make a tough grab though.

Good point 19. LSU WRs have 60 total catches in 8 games, TD 26, TQ 14, MD 11, and JD 9. If the passing doesn't improve....oh well. I actually think LSU will have more success running against OM than most on here.
Having said that some balance is still needed...just not sure the QBs are capable enough at this point.

Tell me, what did Bama lose?

Only their star QB and their offensive coordinator, plus a 2nd round OT, and a 4th round receiver.

So you admit that we lose all of this, but expect no dropoff. Legit.

I expected dropoff. I didn't expect a gaggle of grabass to take the field, however.

I do think Les is involved to that extent. He wants to run first and except for a season or two, that has been the only option that made sense based on the personnel he's had.

My point in this is we can run 9 plays out of 10, but we need to do so more creatively. We can run the wishbone for all I care, as long as it's not predictable.

The running game has had an expanded playbook since Mississippi St. (where we acted like it was impossible NOT to run between the tackles), but it's not as varied as it could be. I also think they can add some plays where it's hard to tell whether it can be a run or pass. Mississippi St. and Auburn did a good job running plays like that against us. I know we don't have run/pass threats at QB like that, but it's not all-or-nothing.

We have some different plays in our playbook, but we haven't used them except against NMSU and maybe some other boring games I got tired of watching. We might not have them ready for this game, but maybe the pre-Bama week off will allow some more of them in.

Well it's clear now that he would have been better off hiring Lane Kiffin's dumb arse (were he available at the time).

We are the second youngest offensive skill group in the country and are still scoring 35 points a game. If the passing game isn't significantly better next year than Cam deserves some criticism but he came in here last year and did a great job. He didn't forget how to coach, nor was he here when we had all of the QB busts. He's recruited one and that's Brandon Harris, who I think will be special. The impatience is staggering.

Name another team that lost as much on offense as we did:

Starting QB
Starting RB
Starting WR1
Starting WR2
Starting OG1

Wow, that's a lot of NFL talent there. Surely we led the nation in scoring last year? Won the conference? Division?

It's like saying we should win the game by doing the very thing we are worst at. WTF???

Rant logic, playa. And 22x per game is the same as never. Don't forget that one.

Because we don't know how to coach players how to pass very well.

You answered this earlier last page on another topic when you said "you can't hope for NFL talent at qb, 2 wrs, and rb at one time". 2011 was and example of the offensive scheme fitting that "once in a lifetime defense and special teams units" that we had. Just because we won games a certain way in 2011, doesn't mean we have the personnel to try and win games the same way now.

Mett seemed to do okay. God forbid our 18 and 19 year old quarterbacks not win the Heisman....
