1st Trip to Red Stick, Need Pointers

I dont think finding four together would be that hard but its always a risk. Finding two together is always simple right by the stadium. Your budget definitely seems reasonable.

Walk around the campus and take it all in, eat lunch at The Chimes (good beer selection), walk up and join a tailgate, see the band and team go down the hill, see mike the tiger, etc.

That budget is not crazy low at all. It is always best to wait until closer to game time as the prices tend to go down. (This is harder to do with a wife as they can tend to get nervous about not getting a ticket). Try to avoid the "youths" on bicycles and sometimes walking who are obviously carrying out an act of capitalism. (unless you don't find any others and it's right before game time). As the poster above said, 2 together is easier to get than 4.

As far as the game day experience - walk around the campus. Go to Mike's cage. Definitely watch the team and the band come down the hill. If you wear your colors you may get "Tiger baited" a bit but that is usually a good conversation starter and heck you might even get invited to a tail gate or two (again others can speak on that better than me).

Oh - almost forgot. If you are planning on getting there real early (before noon?) you could well find some of the free lots still with space.

Honestly, I would think you'll be able to find the tickets you're looking for, however it'll be very nerve racking. I'm 100% confident there will be plenty of ticket scalpers with tickets, but they won't start ditching the tickets for that price until about an hour before game time...at least that's my experience. There are plenty of face value tickets for $80-100, but those guys are trying to make a killing of a profit. I have found that always ruins my experience for road games when I spend most my day looking for tickets. So in short, yes I think you can get 4 tickets easily, but for those prices you'll have to wait a while. Oh, and I'd print out a stadium seating chart so you know where the section is, I wouldn't trust those scalpers to tell me where. Which also, there can be some rather shady scalpers, def better to look for some just normal average joes.

Can't miss things...Friday things won't start getting good until Friday evening. Some of the things around LSU are cliché, but that's what makes them LSU. I'm sure Walk-Ons will have something Friday night. For many locals it's played out, but it really is a cool bar/restaurant for LSU and southern LA food. Since BR is such a huge city, campus is mostly just the college kids partying on a typical Friday night. You can also go to The Chimes on highland at the Northgate. It's another great bar/restaurant that is all LSU. That area will be lively on a Friday night, plenty of cool bars and stuff around there, as well. On Saturday, I'd say get out there early and just walk around. If you're posting on TD for advice, I'm sure you're personable enough to talk to people casually. LSU fans and you have a common enemy..Ole Miss, just play on that. There are big tailgates everywhere, just walk around and talk to people, ask for directions on where to go, just anything and people will welcome you with open arms. Just tell them what you told us, they'll probably give you shite for a minute about being a bammer, but we really don't have penis envy of other schools. Most people hate Bama because they worship Saban still and want to be them. The game starts at 6:15 so at about 3:45 you will want to stand along the barricades on North Stadium Dr. The team walks down the hill roughly 2 hours before and it's cool, but then the band and golden girls march and it's fricken bad arse. That's probably the coolest tradition we have on gameday. Some people will be camped out on the barricades for hours and hours, so I doubt you'd get a front row look unless you sacrificed hours of your tailgating experience but I wouldn't do that.

Parking: Honestly, I'd just park in the levee lots behind the soccer field and next to the softball field. You can look up the parking situation on google, there should be a map. It's like a 10 minute walk to the stadium, but parking is free. If you get out there any time before 1pm you won't have any problem parking. For what it's worth, I haven't missed a game in 13 years (Ok that's a lie, Ole Miss 2 years ago I went a week early to spend Thanksgiving with my ex in Nashville and we broke up the morning of the game and I watched it in a bar alone lol), but I have ALWAYS parked in the levee lots. My first few times I drove to games I parked in some $20-30 places that I could just pay people, but they really aren't any closer to the stadium, and it sucks getting out after. No matter where you park, traffic after the game is fricking ATROCIOUS...so expect at least an hour to get back to your hotel...which actually, where are you staying? That'll change some things as well.

Fourth: Sorry for you having to live in Tuscaloosa and Starkvegas

And I know that was long and rambling sorta, but I've been up for a while studying, anyway, any other questions I'll try to answer.

I would definitely say try to get somewhere near the middle of campus for her to check out the sights. There are plenty of tailgates around the parade grounds and on Dalrymple to see and its the nicest part of the campus. Then I would hit the drum warmup between the amphitheater and the pentagon dorms about 3:30 then walk and see the team come down the hill by Tiger stadium followed by the band. Those are must sees for someone who hasn't been to an LSU game as far as I am concerned.

As far as eating I would walk through campus and just see what smells great and strike up a conversation. Let her see what its like to be around some of the nicest people around. Don't eat at a restaurant. Tailgate food blows away anything you can get around campus.
