We'd be better off playing jimmer in that lineup. He at least can put up points.

Salmons brings really nothing.

Also remember that bench played for nearly a quarter(or longer?). That won't nearly be the case and WAS had a solid bench.

You do have to wonder what's left in the tank with Salmons. He may be here more as a lockerroom presence. MM says we supposedly tried to sign Alan Anderson before settling on Salmons. Considering Anderson is a mediocre at best 3 point shooter, that was surprising.

I doubt we'll see much of that lineup in the regular season. This was absolutely the right time to throw them all out there together and see if they can figure it out. Those guys (sans Anderson) are all, at best, career backups. Let them get a little run and rest our contributors. Anderson is really the only part of that lineup that I found confusing. I'm assuming Monty just left him out there to help get back in playing shape.

I wish we could get a guy like khris middleton.

Bucks have enough SFs.

We have no assets for trading unless Gordon/Jimmer/Rivers outperform expectations. I can see Withey getting traded, but if he does he probably won't bring back anyone that can be useful this year.

In a make or break year in a tough conference, that might be too much to overcome. They've got to anchor the team at all times with at least one guard and one big from the core 6

And if it is I think Monty will adjust. Monty is rigid, but he's rigid in specific ways. He is not going to lose games because he's playing Ajinca minutes instead of Asik. I'm a little more leery of one of the backup SFs getting too many minutes over Gordon/Evans, but the experimentation with Ryno at SF says he realizes he's got garbage at SF. The speculation this preseason, that I think is Monty sourced, has been that Rivers and Jimmer are in a battle with each other for the same rotation minutes, another sign we may not see a platoon bench.

I'm pretty convinced that we will make a move for a backup SF at some point, possibly involving Rivers.

We'll see.

I hope he comes up with creative ways around the lack of depth. But if it took massive injuries and perhaps a front office mandate to give Evans more minutes/control, I'm a little wary of expecting outside the box thinking.

I hope he loosens up like he says he will, but we'll see

I'm not really expecting him to change his ways, but covering 1 hole at SF is a different problem to solve than covering 3 holes at PG/SF/C. One of the first things Monty said after getting Asik was it would allow him to approach the SF position differently including playing Tyreke there. This was not too long after Monty pretty adamantly said Tyreke was a SG and not a SF in the season exit interviews.

I'm pretty interested to see the minute distribution at SF. Will Tyreke get 20 minutes a game there and split the rest of his time at PG or SG? What will Ryno's minutes be between SF and PF?

Anjica is fricking terrible. Are people really touting him as an asset off the bench?

what makes you say that? he played well in small minutes last year. i think in his role as probably 3rd big man (AD and Asik as the other 2 who play the C), he will serve just fine.

He's just limited like Aaron Gray. Put him up against other lumberers and he's serviceable.

if you look across the league, there are a very limited number of "decent" backup centers. this guy will be playing against second and third team guys, not dwight howard for the most part. i have no doubt he can do well enough to be "average" against those players.

Ao you are saying the 3-4th guy off the bench isn't a world beater?

We doomed. Pack it up. Sell the team to seattle.

Our bench is a huge concern. We only have one solid player on it (Anderson) and he might start depending on the match-up. They can stagger minutes, but we are still missing some key contributors..

1. Back-up PG. We have a few guys that can swap over in a pinch (leaving us short at those positions). But they aren't pure PGs and will be a mismatch. We haven't had a veteran back-up at this position in years (J. Jack?). Maybe R. Smith or Rivers works out, but I don't think it would have hurt to grab a guy like a S. Blake or a L. Ridnour or R. Sessions. Especially if Holiday was to miss a lot of time.

2. Transition players. I kind of liked the idea of Stephens, cause he could run and leap. We don't have any back-up perimeter players that can get out and run or put pressure on other teams. The only instant offense we'll get out of reserves is from long distance (Jimmer, Salmons or Anderson). Rivers can't finish at the rim, so even he can't help here.

3. Post scoring. In all honesty, the only post threat on the team is Davis. Hopefully Asik helps a little and Ajinca can have his moments. But when the 2nd team is on the floor, we don't have a threat down low. That is a lot of easy scores we can't depend on.

That's just 3 issues I see with them. It is a really bad bench. Maybe we can pull something like Portland last year and just lean on the starters. But I think their guys (starters) blended a bit more in traditional roles. Hopefully ones or two of the bench guys just surpass all expectations..

Back-up PG is our issue? With Holiday and Reke we are stacked at the 1.

Maybe take a break from posting for a while.
