Just moved to a neighborhood and I'm debating giving my dog away instead of moving him to the new home. He is a mix but most def has some pit breed in him. He has never been aggressive but I know some of the meighborhood will complain about him even though he would be on a wireless fence. He was given to me bc he was found swimming in the red at about 4 months old almost drowning. Should I say f the neighbors or find this dog a nice home?

Gave one away today. Have given several away over the years.

Sometimes they just aren't a good fit.

Yes. Had to move to Canada and all the homes for rent had a no pet policy. At first I was all about leaving my lab behind but now that she's gone i miss my game day partner. She was a 12 year old yellow lab. Left her with the wife's grandmother. Doubtful that she'd enjoy the winter up here...or the steps in the house.

say f the neighbors
Do this if he's a good dog.

Otherwise make sure you surrender him properly to a local shelter.

He is a very good dog. I've only had him for right at a year now. Im trying to find him a good home. If I do then I will go that route but if not I will have to decide btw shelter or say F neighbors.

Yeah. One bit my dad when I was growing up. He said he gave it away. I am sure that was code for "I took it to the mountain and shot it."

If no one's complained about it, and he's a good dog, why are you even thinking about getting rid of him? That's a solution without a problem.

He looks like a pit. My neighborhood has older people in it that I'm sure wouldn't care if he was the friendliest dog on the planet but bc he looks like a pit they will bitch. Already have had one neighbor say they didn't like the idea without actually saying they it word for word.

I have. I had a yellow lab when I was younger that a girlfriend gave me and it killed 35 of my moms chickens. Needless to say it had to go.

Yep, last year. I bought a mountain cur from a black lesbian couple. The dog was retarded. The vet said he was weened way too early.

Many a dog met his end behind killin chickens.

I kinda feel bad for em. Im not sure how a dog is supposed to resist.

If something happened where I couldnt keep my dog or my parents refused to keep him when I'm at work I would consider putting him down. He almost died when I left him with them for the first time. 2 days wouldn't eat or sleep. Eyes got red uncontrollable drooling. I made it back to the house took an hour nap and headed to grand chenier (bout 2 hour drive) to guide a hunt and before we got there he was completely normal. Chipper as could be and ready to rock.

My wife had a rescue Brittany Spaniel that she had before we got married. It came from an abusive home and really attached to her and overly protective. It was fine towards me but when our first child was born it wasn't too keen our son. So, we gave it to a local Brittany rescue place who put it in a home where it would thrive... But, as I told my wife, if it had made the wrong move it wouldn't have had the chance to make it out the door...

I wouldn't give my dog away because you think people in the neighborhood will complain - we have those same people in our neighborhood and they will always have something to complain about.

We are starting to consider the possibility of having to give my GSP away. She hasn't taken to our 1 year old daughter yet. I think she knows if she bites her she will be in deep shite so she won't go near her and will do anything she can to get away if the baby goes near her. She has half asses growled at the baby once or twice for pulling her ears but it didn't last and she realized pretty quick that she was about to f up. I hate the thought of giving her up but I also hate the thought of putting her down if she ever actually bites the baby.

If he's not aggressive, and you keep him in your yard, the neighbors shouldn't care.

Had the pound pick up a dog when i was a kid. It was a terrible experience having to part with a dog when you are a kid. It would get out of the fence constantly and would dig in the neighbors garbage. Just so happened the neighbor had a son living at home that was dying of aids. Not saying there was anything contaminated in their garbage but my mom just couldn't deal with the dog digging in their trash then coming home....
