re: Revolver for Wife?
Posted by gptigers on 1/2/24 at 6:58 pm
I started with a similar approach as you...9mm compact pistol, then a 38 revolver. Ended up settling on a S&W M&P 380EZ. Wife can easily work the slide and the recoil is manageable. I'd rather her have something that she is comfortable shooting than something that has the 'best ballistic coeffici...

re: U.S. Army CGSC Advice?

Enjoy the year.
One of my professional regrets was electing constructive credit for CGSC (long story, but this was circa 2013) and foregoing the year at FLKS. Really wish that I had completed the residency program as well as competed for SAMS. ...

Seconded on Panther Creek. There’s a small footbridge over some wet area on the trail…usually I don’t put a line in until this point. Trail is an old logging railroad so it’s pretty flat and slopes gently upward....

The folks at Little River Outfitters in Townsend will get you squared away. Very knowledgeable, friendly, and always wiling to help out non-locals find fish. Casting will likely be very short (9-12’) and primarily on pocket water. This time of year anything with an orange and brown tone works well....
re: If you could go back in time, what advice would you give to the 18 year old you?

Enjoy youth before making lifetime commitments...there is only once in your life when you're young and carefree. Invest in experiences over things, whether time with family/friends or life....
Townsend was always our plan
East Tennessee. Lower taxes across everything.
Soon Townsend will be a mini Gatlinburg...keep the commercial stuff on the other side of Wears Valley.
I'd look up and down the HWY 411 corridor...but anything worth getting is going to be expensiv...
re: Plantar fasciitis/heel spur/heel pain remedy’s, what have you found that works?
Posted by gptigers on 10/5/22 at 7:32 pm
Really really good orthotics. Had a hell spur, plantar fasciitis, etc and the only thing that helped was custom orthotics with an aggressive arch. Unfortunately my current insurance will only cover that if you’re diabetic ...

re: Is the whole “veterans need special treatment” overblown?
Posted by gptigers on 9/30/22 at 10:32 am
As a veteran I’d rather see folks being good citizens…aka someone that is worth sacrificing for…than shallow demonstrations of appreciation.
At least in my experience the desire to not let your buddies down and being dependable were the prime motivators for willingness of an individual soldier to...
