Sorry but none of these teams could touch 2011 LSU and Bama

they should just make the playoff an SEC only event

And Georgia would still never be a participant.

The Big XII had a scenario like that a few years ago. I think it was the Sooners, sips, and sand aggies.

I think three SEC West teams is possible, albeit highly unlikely. It would take a scenario like 2008 in the Big 12 South where three teams all beat each other and go undefeated otherwise. It would have to be Ole Miss, Miss St, and the Bama/Auburn winner. It would also require craziness like 2007 with everyone else in contention losing.

Also, I think the 2010 SEC West was stronger than 2011. In 2010, the top 5 teams in the West (minus Ole Miss) went 39-2 and in 2011 the same group went 35-4.

With a committee...

should the sec do away with the championship game? seems like it has more potential to hurt than to help the sec teams in the new playoff format.

No. Under the current system 2 SEC teams is possible but not likely. However, as I've said before 4 teams is not enough. 6 would be OK (top 2 seeds get byes) but 8 would ideal. 5 automatic qualifiers from the power 5 conferences plus 3 wildcards. If they want to continue to have a committee to determine the 3 wildcards and seedings, fine. But computers should be used to a great extent in determining seedings and who is deserving.

theoretically, but i'd be shocked if the SEC got 2
I believe the committee said there will be an emphasis placed on winning your conference. That may be put to the test.

All credibility, from my perspective, could be lost real quick if it plays out in a way where 2-3 SEC West teams are pretty clearly top 4 teams but they get left out in favor of a conference champ who hasn't been as good, possibly even with an extra loss.

8 would be disgusting and an absolute abortion

i mean 4 is terrible, especially with this selection method...but 8? way too much. you're getting into 3-loss territory

I don't think teams outside of the SEC realize just how seriously stupid the SEC West is this year.

It is all a house of cards though.

So, they beat a good Auburn team?...

Yeah SEC has been pulling a fraud for years with their pitiful OOC scheduling.

Only team deserving of praise is LSU
